Hi all - my name's Dan, I'm 25 and live in Chatham, Kent. I have, like most other newbies been lurking in the background until taking the plunge (this morning) and buying an RCZ. Anyway, here is what I have (kind of - will become clearer below!) bought...
- 2011 '60' plate Pearlescent White RCZ 156 Petrol GT (born 10/2/11)
- 15,300 miles
- Solstice Onyx Black alloys
- 3D Nav and DVD player
- RCZ black side stripes (not sure about these, how much do you think it will cost to get someone to remove them?).
- I will be the 3rd owner (Peugeot manager owned for 4 months then the guy I'm buying off has owned for 18 months - he paid £22.5k for it as I saw the receipt from Robins and Day in the paperwork!).
- HPI clear
- Usual GT spec for the rest
Anyway, I have agreed in principle to pay £15.5k which I think is very reasonable (the guy says he has always wanted the TT S Line and has now got enough to buy one. In fact, he was going straight to Cambridge to see one after my viewing this morning). He has agreed to renew the tax for 6 months, service her (had interim, due a major service I believe), valet her and put a full tank in for me which is very good of him.
I say 'kind of' bought as there are potentially a few sticking points which he has said if I am not happy with I can walk away from the deal (he was very good to deal with!). The main one being the fact that I saw that the Peugeot warranty only lasts for 2 years and not the 3 years I had (wrongly) assumed (3 years standard on my previous cars). I 'saw' this in the front of the 'service and maintenance' manual.
Maybe not a massive issue you think, but I am an accountant and I hate risk (don't buy one then I hear you say)! The risk of being covered should the clutch go for example a week after I buy it is important to me and I therefore have limited comfort (one month's comfort to be precise) if the 2 years is correct. Also, he said if I wasn't happy with the results from the service (i.e. whether it needed non-warranty work doing) we could re-negotiate or I could walk away.
To sum up therefore, can somebody confirm whether RCZ's have a 2 year warranty or 3 year warranty? I can't see that anybody has asked this one here before, and I have read a lot of posts!
Thanks for any replies in advance.
