hello everybody,
me again and I was looking for some straight forward answers and found none. This way I shall deal solely with the pollen filter, hopefully providing article numbers, part location etc etc.

Why change it? Well, I cannot get rid of an oil smell which I‘ve had since the oilpipe from the turbo began to leak. Changing the filter might help, who knows? Additionally, there are a lot of nasty bugs and bacteria caught up in the filters which might not be so welcome in your own body. Gone are the days where you just opened the windows and went for a drive.

Haynes Help
Unfortunately they report of 2 locations in the car. One is under the windscreen with access from the engine compartment. The second location which is a favourite with manufacturers is under the glove compartment. This is most likely to be related to which model you have so a cross reference with the chassis number should help. I will put the details of my RCZ in later.
There are no part numbers mentioned which is a shame.
Unfortunately the little video Haynes have attached to the maintenance paragraph is from a BMW :-(.

More later.

It's in the engine compartment, to the left of the air filter, looking at the car from the front.

On mine you have to remove the two last plastic rivets that hold a cloth, which covers the filter cover, when you remove the cover you can extract the filter.

In the document from @chrismac there are more rivets but on mine you only need to remove 2.

The last time I changed it was after 30000km, as the manual says, but it was very very dirty and the car smelled bad inside.

Next time I will change it at 10000km

Found it. Not quite so obvious as you forgot to mention the insulation cloth on the engine wall held by 2 pin clips which can be removed with a good set of fingernails. The small filter cover is tucked up underneath there and has a handle to pull it out..( very thoughtful of the designers ). The filter sits on 2 rails. I of course have the wrong part so will have to get the right one ordered.
Anyway, the filter is covered in the usual dust and grime, flies, bits of wasps and dead leaves.
Ah yes, the part number Mahle LA138. Should be ok to buy and then see where we go then.

Cheers
