Interesting week of ownership .... DPF

Been an interesting week and a half since purchasing my used Z. Firstly, picking up from the dealers was a joke. Valetter had gone home with keys in pocket and they couldn't get hold of him. It was then brought to my home address the next day.

4 days pass and the warning for the particle filter pops up ..... Whilst doing 70mph on the motorway. An hours driving did not cure. Drove it back to the dealer next day. They had it for 2 days (couple of spray jobs also needed doing). Picked it up again Friday and was advised they had done a forced Regen (can clog if it's been stood on forecourt for a bit).

70miles covered on Saturday (mainly motorway). 3 miles on the Sunday ..... Risk of particle filter .........

There are hundreds of posts on here to trawl through. Can anyone give me a quick answer and solution? The driving above 40mph doesn't seem to be curing it. Additionally, this surely should not be happening 70 miles later.

Any help would be appreciated.

This can still be many things.
My HDi (2010, 58k miles) hasn't had any DPF issue.
My previous car (307 HDi FAP 2001) had DPF issues when it was new which was a sensor issue.
Then later I had DPF issues again because the dealer had failed to top up the eollys (additive that is used to clean the filter) so the filter had gotten clogged up beyond cleaning and had to be replaced.
I would expect your dealer to have checked the level of the additive.

Finally, if your car was only used for driving short distances, also the filter may have been damaged.
It may be that the filter is clogged up so much that the regeneration is not complete.
I've seen on German TV that there are companies that have ovens in which they can fully regenerate this type of filters

Cheers guys. It'll be going back to the dealer tomorrow. I just want it sorted as soon as. I really don't want to be going down the route of a full refund. May be asking for a new filter tomorrow.

You have to remember that the hdi is not meant for quick short journeys. That will give you dpf problems! The engine needs to get up to temperature at which point the filter starts to do its job. In 2 and a half years mine has only lit up twice (same week). That was due to the car not being driven much but other than that my journeys are usually long and that gives the dpf ample time to get up to temperature and get rid of all The gases. I suggest you take the car back to the dealer and get them to have another inspection!

All booked in for this evening. Just gutted that I have only had 3 days happy motoring out of 12 since buying it. To top it off, I know they're going to give me a Citroen DS3 :-(

Got a call. There was no additive in it (I would have checked that 1st). All apparently sorted, been test driven and good to go

7 motorway miles later ....... BEEP!
Risk of particle filter blah blah
3 miles later ........ BEEP!
Passenger airbag tensioner fault

Not happy. Looking now at refund or replacement :-(

Called again telling me it's been to Peugeot and it just needs a software update. Can this be correct or are they pulling wool over my eyes and just hiding the faults?

By peugeot do you mean peugeot uk?
If so give them a bell and ask what has been done to your vehicle to rectify the faults. If they say we don't know anything about your vehicle ask them why the dealership is telling you its fixed when it's not.
They may speak to the dealership to get them to fix it properly.

If it a dealership ring the dealership and ask them what was done/how it was fixed.

Cheers. It's a Citroen dealership that I bought the car from who are taking it to 'Peugeot'. I will get more details from them to find out exactly what is being done.

Cheers for the reply

Peugeot and citroen use the same computer systems to read/program the computers/diagnostics and they are PSA.
If it comes back get straight in touch with Peugeot HQ UK and get them to sort it.

I have 89k miles on mine and it still runs like a Swiss watch! Is their any service history with that car? I'm wondering has it been clocked??

Last 2 services stamped. It could well be that the last owner only did short journeys.

Today's test drive from the dealer proved negative with the warning popping up again. The Peugeot dealership they passed it to yesterday did a reset following the addititive top up and a forced regen.

Next step is dpf cleaner then see again Monday
