Just had a quote from esure..
£260 fully comp and protected NCB. I'm 38, live in East Yorkshire and drive around 5k miles per year. no accidents or points and that is for a 200GT.

I think it makes a massive price difference depending on your post code.I have never tried Elephant so I just gave them a go. At my current address I have just been quoted £758.96. At my address of 6 years ago in Swindon I was quoted £315.88. All other details identical. A 140% increase based only on the postcode.
I've just been onto MoneysuperMarket and used my old address in Swindon, best quote came in at £162.88 I am curently paying almost £500 with the same company.
Its all in the postcode.

Also take into consideration the new legislation about not being able to gender discriminate regarding insurance. Tethias has just paid his deposit for his RCZ. If you bought your insurance before December time last year then you will have paid more because you were male. My girlfriends insurance went up this year because she didn't benefit from being a female as her insurance was renewed in March. Agree that it doesn't seem to be consistent throughout the different companies though.

Bummer :-( Have you tried Aviva out of interest? I have 4 years NCD, driving for 7 years and they were a massive saving on others when I renewed in December. I also always add my partner (female and a couple of years older) and before I met her it was my mum or dad who both have clean licences and more NCD than I have years on this planet!

I used to work for a short while at a taxi insurance brokers I found that some insurance companies used the postcode predominantly but others used the owners credentials.
If you were a taxi driver in Bradford for instance the taxi insurance was over twice the amount on companies that used the postcode.

As I said earlier the postcode appears to make a huge difference 3 times more at current address than at my previous address.

Still a rip off. I moved from a nice area to a rough area of Rugby. Not surprisingly my insurance jumped up. I then a few years later moved back to my original house and guess what? My insurance jumped up again! Never used that insurance company since :thumbdown:

Same happened to me RON when I moved to Bournemouth for a year. Originally at my parents house in Cheshire it went up by about 20%, that was fine, as I was only there for a year. When I moved back up north it went up by another 10-15% and they even admitted £75 of that was an admin charge as I was moving addresses and would have to send the paperwork out again! It didn't even come in a golden envelope!!!!!

I rented my home out as I'd moved away on business. I really hate insurance companies for their tactics and dishonesty. They squeeze your nethers at every opportunity that comes their way and have no compunctions about it.
