I'm paying £178 for the Z with "Quote Me Happy". Fully Comp with Protected No Claims, key cover & Zero excess. legal cover, the full works.

I remember when my son first started driving we were paying over £3000 insurance for him to get behind the wheel of a 1.2 Corsa sxi. :?
5 years on he's paying around £450 for his BMW 1 series.

We recently had a quote off Swinton over the phone for the new Chevrolet Spark which we just bought and it came back at £225 in the wifes name with me as a 2nd driver, she has protected 8 years no cliams bonus and legal cover included, and £100 excess.
Done exactly the same quote online with Swinton came back as £113.

I'm currently looking for quotes as my insurance is up for renewal this month.

Been with LV for at least the last 6 years - renewal came in at £275.

Online last night and Privilege quoted £ 198.22

Sheila's wheels £205

Admiral were astonishingly expensive £350.86.

All quotes include everything except breakdown cover which I have separately.

All options have been disclosed too.

Never been with Privilege or Sheila's wheels. Anyone got any feedback about either ?

It's not until you make a claim do you find out how good or bad an insurance company is, so therefor I just go for the cheapest quote that offers the best cover on paper.

I've used Privilege in the past, but never needed to claim, so cant really comment on their service.
What really bugs me is when you recieve your renewal and its a bit high so you ring up to cancel and they immediately offer a discount for being a "valued customer", and to stay with them :x

If I'm such a valued cutomer why didnt you apply the discount on my renewal paperwork

I know what you mean Jactac.

I got a quote from LV on line whilst I was at it as a new customer you get a cheaper quote. Strangely though, it came in at exactly the same price as my renewal notice. The strange thing was when you put your reg number in it couldn't find my car (and I'm their customer) :wtf:

Did you use LV's website or find their quote through a comparison site.
I have found in the past that an insurance company offering a quote via a comparison site is a bit cheaper than if you go direct to their site for a quote :eusa-think:

We left Priv and went to Admiral. They were superb when my 1st 508 got written off. I had a new one 7 days later.

NO......DON'T USE SHEILA'S WHEELS ...the insist on as far as possible on a repair not replace policy (to keep prices down) I know this as my friend owns a local insurance approved bodyshop. Cars come out of they held together by catalloy.

I'm with Priviledge for the MINI ....... only £158 FC.....even with Steves record :)

I was with Privilege when I had a crash a couple of years Back. service was excellent. courtesy car dropped to the house. broken car picked up from the scene and I was taken home. no paperwork to fill in . excellent customer service until renewal. because of the claim they were unable to get anywhere close to tesco's.

but good while i was there.

I didn't Kerry but I was with Diamond when I had my fiesta & I had to make a claim with them, the car went in for repair a courtesy car was provided & when my car came back it was a excellent no problems at all, the only reason I swopped was they couldn't beat the quote I had from another insurance provider, also some insurance companies give you the option of where you want your car to go to be repaired, hope this helps.

I got a very low quote with Sheila's Wheels but was put off on reading some internet reviews. I ended up going with Tesco who were only about a fiver dearer after applying a clubcard discount. Internet reviews don't really tell the full story though and are bound to be a mixed bag. Tesco weren't a whole lot better in some people's eyes. I hope not to have to find out but was swayed by the legal cover etc which was free with them but not with Sheila's Wheels. I think I was 236 bucks all in for the VXR.

While I'm aware that changing cars mid insurance term isn't normally the best recipe for the best price available I'm happy and to an extent surprised to say that after looking for quotes for my renewal that I have managed to get my monthly payments down from £45 a month to £25 a month with Dial Direct  and that wasn't the cheapest quote. I need certain levels of cover with using the car for work i.e. they insist I have a courtesy car so I can still get to meetings around the country if the worst happens so had to ignore about 5 even cheaper quotes until I hit the cover level needed
I did try both Insurance companies linked to this forum but they only shaved pennies off the £45
At least there is one advantage to getting older :eusa-think: which isn't the message my legs give me these days after football! :(

Make sure you try a few comparison sites. I found money supermarket one of the cheapest. Compare the market were consistently more expensive for exactly the same cover with the same companies. :eusa-think:
