Boyes stores are selling a microfibre wheel brush/cleaner, just over £2, best I have used.

Called into the refurbishers today. Fortunately as suggested on here, it is repairable and was quoted £55  ...
Wow, I'm amazed and encouraged that so much damage & missing metal can be repaired and for such a reasonable cost too. Great news for you!

Look pretty good to me , a local authorised fitter can do me a set for just over £100 fitted!

As my son used to be a fitter for Halfords, I had the chance to borrow the Halfords product and take it to a local wheel repairer who was repairing my alloy when I pranged it, he stocked the Alloygator, so I could compare both side by side.
On the wheels they both looked very similar and both gave about the same amount of protection.
For me though, both looked out of place, but if you can get used to them you will probably forget they are there. I think you may have more chance of them "blending in" on a black alloy.
The "alloy" coloured ones in the Allygator range looked rather dark, at least the ones that this fella had in stock did. at the time Halfords only did them in black.

I opted to give them both a miss. They took the "look" away from my Black Solstice.

I would say the Halfords protectors looked slightly less obvious. :eusa-think:

I cant comment on how any of them perform or how easy they are to securely fit, as both were only placed in position to compare.
Looking at Rons damage I don't think any of the protectors would of prevented all of it, and his is relatively mild, I would suggest that any kirbing that causes damage further than aprox 6mm in from the rim edge wont be protected. :eusa-think:

What I did notice though was that if you have a tyre that fits tight to the rim, without leaving a small gap between tyre rim and alloy rim, it then looks like both products would have to sit further out on the alloy, and in my opinion not a nice look.
I think the protectors are intended to fit snuggly between the tyre rim and the alloy rim, on that small edge, if you know what I mean

Hope this helps, but has probably made things more confusing .

My brother-in-law has alloygators on his driving school car (he's an instructor) and I can confirm that they do hold up to quite some abuse, and protect the rims in the process...
