Hi All,
Good to see that a board has been setup so quickly, I hope that this turns out to be a great place to find out all about this new car.
Any way, as the title says, I pick up my 156 GT in Charcoal, with blue/grey leather on Saturday, I havn't been this exited about a new car in a long time.
Before I start, I would like to explain just how I came to buy this car.
I suppose I am exactly the type of customer that Peugeot wanted to attract when they built the RCZ. You see I never intended to buy a Peugeot at all.
This was based on a previous bad experience with the very first 206cc. To cut a long story short, after 3 years, and more that 60...... yes 60 visits to the dealer with roof trouble, we swaped the car for .........another 206cc !! . You see, my wife felt that she hadn't had the experience to match the dream in her head, so she wanted one more try. However, this one turned out to be a very reliable car indeed,(if not perticualy good to drive)
We then changed that for a Civic Type R GT, which we felt was a massive jump in both build quality, and driver appeal. But when the time came to change,(helped along buy two very persuassive men and a GUN) and we found ourselves wanting something a bit more, erm German ! (if you know what I mean)
So, off to Audi we went, but to be honest, we were left more than a little disapointed with how much (or should that be little) Audi TT you get for £26000.
and dare I say, I wasn't excited by the look any more, so we decided to get a car that would be fun for my wife to run around in, and would be worth something in 3 years time.
Any way, £300 pounds deposit later and we found ourselves the supprised owners of a new Mini Cooper Converteble (never saw that coming) :?
I was due to pick up the car the following week, when I drove past a Peugeot dealer, and saw the back end of the RCZ. I literally came to a halt, and thought, I'd better go and look at it, even though it's a Peugeot !
As I entered the showroom, and was imedeatley stunned by the shape of the thing. I walked around it a couple of times standing quite away back, a man said "can I help you sir ?" .... I replied "erm... I don't know yet" in a confused kind of way.
I opened the door and remember thinking WOW I never expected that !, and I really believe that in the first 30 seconds of me seeing the car for the first time, I had decided that this is what I wanted. The fit and finish of the interior was probably the biggest suprise of all, and I thought, I don't even care if it drives like a boat, I want one !
As luck would have it, It dosn't, I took the test drive, and all of my preconceived ideas about the brand, faded away.
I walked out of that dealership with butterfly's in the pit of my stomach, for three weeks before, and countless other car dealers, I can't say the same !
I am not an impulsive person at all usually, I like to know everything about a car before I buy it (well, OK I did buy two in one week
, but this is really not the norm for me)
Peugeot should be very proud of what they have done here, they have tempted me spend £23160 on a car that has no track record yet, I only hope that the improvements arn't just skin deep, and that this is a turning point for Peugeot.
Now, how can I get my deposit back on that Mini ?
