I phone 4 connection problems - NG4-SAT NAV Media system

When i connect my iphone 4 using a USB lead the media system fails to see the music files(NG4 SAT NAV). Yet when i connect an ipod Nano or a Shuffle using the USB connection the Medi system sees the music files straight away.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so i would like some help as Apple have not had any issues between the iphone 4 and the Peugeot RCZ!

The iPods are able to sense when they are connected to a USB source and they go into disk mode the same as a memory stick. As long as the music is in MP3 format you can then control and play it exactly as if it is was a memory stick. The iPhone does not support this mode so cant be controlled in the same way. You will the same problem with other types of iPod as well. As far as I am aware only the nano/shuffle types support disk mode.

This is unfortunate, as i have 32GB phone with all my music and videos on yet i can use them on the this media system. Since there is an ever increacing numbers swapping there old phones to iphones because of the music capabilities(ipod) yet none of us can use it in this car! Apple can not help as they agree with you that this phone does not support with the disc mode function.

I have not found it a problem. I just transferred my music to the inbuilt hard drive. Its what its there for. If you are really desperate to connect your phone then get the apple AV cable and connect it via the AV ports in the glove box. I also have music on an SD card and music on a memory stick, so there or no shortages of ways to play music!!

I spoke to the manufacturer of the unit and there are plans to enable BT streaming from the iPhone which requires a software upgrade but no clear dates on when it is likely to happen.

I spoke to Peugeot and they have said similar comments, i can use a lead through the glove box or via blue tooth but neither way will allow me to choose which songs to play! I am in the process of converting all my music to MP3 format and placing them on an 32GB SD card as the hard drive is only 10GB not enough to take all my music and movies etc. But still very usefull. Peugeot are in talks with the software company to get an update so that the iphone4 will the be compatable but due to all the red tape not sure when it will be available.

As already stated the i-phone 4 doesnt support the disc mode,

In the short term you can access your music by placing it on a memory stick and using the usb connection or on an sd card and using the slot on the front of the system or using a cable and the av ports in the glovebox, this may be less

Peugeot are aware and are trying to get a fix to make i-phone 4 compatible but I believe that there is alot of problems to overcome as Apple are very protective of their software and systems.

I also have the media system in my RCZ. Have to say that my only issue with the car (and i do love the car) is that I cannot simply play my music unless I somehow manage to convert all my music to mp3 and put it on a memory stick.... seems a little old hat these days and with 64g of music thats going to take me a while. Does anyone know if Peugeot are yet able to update the firmware to allow me to stream from my iPhone via bluetooth (no I can't even do this in mine) or even usb cable ?? Come on Peugeot its 2012 and EVERYBODY HAS AN iPHONE!! If you want your products to appeal to the ever so young and trendy  then this needs to be seamless, you need to take a bite of the Apple.

I agree with you Dom, I've said all along the NG4 system is a whole lot of extra money for a whole lot of nothing, cosmetic it makes the dash look better but forget everything else you would expect a system of that cost to do.

I phone 4 doesn't support disk mode? :wtf:
Why are people still buying this garbage from Apple? (no offense) You pay more to get less.
All of the phones I've used with my car have been simple Symbian based Nokia's and currently Sony Ericsson and I can play music with NG4 via the USB cable, which then also charges the phone battery!
I'm so glad my first smartphone is going to be a Samsung running Android.

Not wishing to sidetrack this but your comments about the iPhone are completely unfounded I'm afraid. Here's just one reason why:

That aside, it is a very popular phone and I'm astonished by the compatibility issues!
