The old math used to be if you do over 12000 -14000 miles a year your better of with the demon Devil Derv  now giving the cost of the smelly stuff nowadays its probably more like 16000-18000.had a diesel done 60,000 miles in 30 months all roughly motorway driving great for overtaking without changing gear as diesels are really for lazy drivers  but as i have said before never again for a few good reasons never mind the cost of stuff now

Diesel power is fuel of choice for us oldies, as we are too lazy/tired to change gear. Is that right jassy? Or does a diesel powered engine simply provide phenomenal torque with a great mpg return. Or could it be that diesel engines out run/live it's petrol counterpart?

IS it fap v THP Ron ;) well for sheer driving pleasure which is just okay in a rcz ;) i would say the PETROL ENGINE IS BY FAR THE BETTER VARIANT TO DRIVE as for mpg you win  as for longevity you win  but i dont want keep a car for any longer than 3 years so longevity dont matter to me by longevity you mean A DIESEL TAXI AS THEY ARE THE ONLY OWNERS WHO KEEP DIESEL CARS FOR ANY GREAT LENGTH OF TIME.the government fixed the corporate company diesel car bandwagon several years ago  as most diesels are company run ;)

i dont rate the 156 bhp engine at all  its pedestrian like as the rcz aint any lightweight the 200bhp aint much better because of the kerb weight either AS FOR diesel TORQUE it can be misleading,my last car had very little torque and the power delivery was very linear in delivery all that gave acceleration away was the addictive noise from the engine  but that petrol engine would out last any diesel engine on market ;) so the downfall of the petrol engine is really turbochargers
