How to upset BMW man

I simply have to relay the events of my journey home this evening as it really has brought a wry smile to my face. To set the picture I was travelling along the A64 (dual carriageway)
section at around 1800hrs so it was dark as well as raining. Normally through traffic remains in the outer lane and all those exiting at the numerous slip roads remain on the inside. As was the case this evening. I was travelling at just below 70mph at a safe distance from the car in front who was following a convoy of cars all doing the same. When black BMW man flew past me on the inside and immediately pulled out in front of me. I backed off and watch him attempt to repeat the manoeuvre numerous times to no avail. So after approx 14miles and the last of the slip roads had been passed I returned to the nearside lane. The next junction was a large traffic light controlled round-about. So there was me and the BMW side by side. With two set of lights and a round-about to negotiate. The other side of the round-about the outside lane merges to become single carriageway for the next ten miles. So lights turn green he roars off as I pull away, he slams on as 2nd set remains on red as I gently but firmly apply pressure to my right foot. Lights now green, throttle now being made good use off leave BMW man as if he was stationary  I negotiated the round-about and exited first and kept BMW man at bay. It was forced to brake to pull in behind me for the next ten miles. The first part of which was spent watching him testing out his high beam. As we approach the next dual lanes I remained at 70mph as I know that the local traffic police find this location to be a real "honey trap" BMW man passed me with horn blazing. I swear if the roads had not been so wet his tyres would have caught light. As I entered the right hand filter lane to turn into my hamlet the blue lights on the police car were clearly visible as it travelled in the direction of BMW man. Poetic I thought to myself  Anyone who thinks that a diesel engined car has no poke clearly has not heard of an RCZ

Nice one Ron, I bet he was cursing you!

I bet the only think that could have made that story sweeter would have been if it had been Mr TT

Loved reading that. There are a lot of BMW men out there and even some women now. Also is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of more elderly BMW drivers these days? (aged say 55-65 years)

I'm not into cars that much so couldn't say what sort of BMW it was. The other contributory factor to "burning him off" was that I knew the 2nd set of lights would be at red. So he was braking and probably changing gears as I was accelerating in the correct gear. So he hadn't enough time/space to out manoeuvre me. He was not a happy bunny  Would love to know how the coppers dealt with him

It's not all about speed though is it. Good driving can really upset other drivers. Anticipation, planning ahead, being in the right gear can all help to outsmart anyone on the road. coming back home yesterday on twisty country roads I was behind a 5 series BMW and he was getting a bit tetchy that he couldn't shake me off, especially on the corners where I had the edge on him. You could see the back of his car slipping right out whereas mine just stuck to the road round the bends. Even in my lowly "Sport" model ;)

It was bucketing down. The only reason that he failed to pass me was that I knew the 2nd set of lights changed to green a little while after the first set. He set off like an idiot and had to slam his brakes on. Whereas I simply pulled away gently and then floored it. The reason that I posted this event was because the Black BMW man looked like getting his comeuppance for his appalling driving for which they are synonymous rather than I outsmarted him at a set of lights

Well he got his just deserts anyway although it tends be be Audi drivers over here who seem to think the road belongs to them and everybody else should just get out of there way A4 drivers seem to be worst

If all that you can see are headlights up your backside (so to speak) it will be a black bmw.

It certainly wasn't yesterday either. Dry as a bone. Perfect in fact. This is one of the reasons why I would never buy a BMW. So unpredictable. Bad in ice, snow and rain and it would seem dry conditions.

Those running lights look so naff. Back when I passed my test old plod would be giving you a fine for having LED's on at anytime let alone during the day. As for penalising road users for having fog lights on when it isn't foggy? Those LED's are more dazzling. Plus Mercedes use the fog lights for extra light when cornering, & trust me when you live in Milton Keynes those damn fog lights are on & off so much round the roundabouts, so between them & Audi we will all be fitting at the wheel.
