How to delete private messages

Can anyone tell me how to delete old inbox & outbox private messages as mine is full and can not receive new ones

Make it easy for me as I am a silver back surfer

To the right of each message is a column called "mark". Tick each box of each message you want to delete (or at the bottom of the page there is something saying "mark all" - this selects all the messages). Just above that is a drop down box, select "delete marked" and click Go.

Do this for each page and for sent items and in box items.
