Now, this is a pretty and very successful motor.
I don't know if this is an original or a good replica, of which their were many.
What I do know, because I was in the thick of it in the early sixties, was that the Lotus cars of Colin Chapman were the pioneers of kit cars.
The eleven, like the seven, was either assembled by Lotus or crated up and sold by them for customers to build.
The eleven was, like all Lotuses of those days, designed by Chapman, but built by two of his neighbours in North London.
The chassis was fabricated by Progress and the body parts made by Williams and Pritchard.
My rally mate at that time worked for W&P (Charlie & Len) in Edmonton as a fibre glass laminator.
There were several versions of the eleven including a Le Mans specific and several customer variants.
This is, if genuine, likely to have the Coventry Climax FWA 1100 engine, and may or may not have been destined for the track.
If this is kosher, and beautifully restored it is worth a bit!
It does look a bit too pristine, at first glance, and use of wire wheels a bit suspect.
Should be green, though!
Oh, and I am a fan of replicas, on which I could write a tome, having built a Brooklands Riley and owning a modern Seven, both unashamedly good homage to the originals.
I also had the pleasure of marshalling at events where these beauties did their stuff!
