How do you close boot?

Bit of a strange question I know, but how do you close the boot? I was pulling it down with little bit that sticks out to the right of the boot catch, but the rubber bit comes off sometimes. Is that what its for? If not, what do you use instead? Dont really want to leave leave fingerprints on the body work! :D

On the inside of the boot lid there's a scoop which is purposely there for closing the boot. One either side to match which "hand" you are. There's also instructions in the owners manual

That many be for holding something in place.

For example a warning triangle, like some of the Mercedes, audi's etc.

Possibly post a picture.

When the Peugeot service box web site is back on line I'll check what the description in the parts list says.

Leckenby - That rubber on a metal stick to the right of the latch is attached to the spring that causes the boot lid to go up when you open the boot with your hand or the remote.

The Peugeot Service Box site is back up now - it just describes this part as "BOOT SWITCH", part number 6490 HN.

Not terribly descriptive!

Isn't it the part that tells the bsi that a door is open, a pressure or height switch in effect?

I believe so - I'd suspect that pulling and pushing it is that last thing it wants.
