Hi all, just bought a 1.6l petrol rcz, 2013. Just come home from a drive and a hose is off , no idea where it should go, or if something broke. Pics attached, Cheers

There is a stub on the under side of the air pipe that it pushes onto, there is a horseshoe clip slightly back that supports it so it doesn’t vibrate off and it should click into place. Push it on by the pipe itself and not the halo, as the halo can break off easily.

edit - that would be on the side of the pipe that comes from the air box to the turbo but some where along the lines you air box has fell out and that red thing fell in. It’s a breather pipe, but now poor wee thing is homeless…….just before Christmas too.

Yes, I rang the garage I bought it from, he said it's because the air box was changed. New problem today, high pitched whine on hi revs, at top of rev, then stops as revs drop, now exclamation mark, engine needs repair and code P0033 turbo error.. I think a trip back to the garage is coming up , where is the turbo?

I might be tempted to look for an original air box and pipe kit, or maybe a silicone one that accommodate all the breathers and sensors the ecu is looking at. purpose of the silicone hose is to smooth the air with less restriction, does that one? bet it’s got a lovely red cone filter too. Can you tell i am not a fan, but you do you.

There is also an air monitoring sensor (yellow circle) that connects to the pipe directly on the turbo (in the photo going from the air box, looks like it’s coming out of the brake fluid reservoir to the Turbo).
Your fault code could be caused by the open breather and unconnected sensor/malpositioned sensor.
However it’s probably the pierburg diverter valve, visible as the black plastic thing (blue circle) mounted on the turbo, with a triangle base and 3 Allen key bolts In the pic. Over time the orange/red (black) diaphragm seal, work hardens and can split, whistling at higher rpm, throwing up codes and car not running correctly or less efficiently. If the numbers have faded or been wiped of shout back and I’ll get you them.

Buy a pierberg, matching numbers to the original, widely available and not overly expensive.
