Hi like your motor !

What took you so long ?!

Has the remap done any noticeable difference, have you had it on the Dyno?

Since your fairly local, who did you get to do the remapping?

Welcome by the way to the best location on the internet for anything RCZ related.

Hope you have many happy smiles in her.

What's the mileage?

Cheers M..

Hi and welcome :greetings-wavingblue: your Z looks great anymore shots? I’m particularly interested in the look of the tinted headlights and front windows.

Whilst I do not doubt that a dark tint on the windows and lights would look very good especially on my black one, I am really concerned about the legal aspects.

Believe it or not (it is true), here in Spain you can be "done" for non-homologated tinting.
Our chap's son carries a copy of the papers for his Megane, as he has been stopped several times and Trafico (cops) tried to issue a fixed penalty ticket.

So, legally, you are allowed to tint the rear screen, side REAR windows, and.......nothing else.

We had a Vauxhall Zafira (when we had heaps of kids to tow around) which I had a full body kit fitted & some nice alloys with low profiles, so the next obvious mod was tinting the glass.

I went to a local window tinter, and explained that I wanted to go as dark as I LEGALLY could. I was pleased with the results, even though I would have liked it a little darker.

About a month later, my wife was chased down the road by one of those pretend police cars that you usually see patrolling the motorways (can’t remember what they are called) and told to remove the tints on the drivers and passengers door windows, there and then, or she would be issued with a fine. She called me & I told her to come home with whatever paperwork they wanted to give her, and leave the tints as they were.

I called the manager of the unit for the pretend cops & arranged to meet him in a car park where he used a meter on the windows & confirmed they needed removing as they were illegal. I argued that the reason for the law was to ensure it was safe to see through the glass, and he agreed. I then stood to one side of the car with all the doors shut, and looked through the car to the next car in the car park where a guy was reading a newspaper, and pointed out that I could still read the headlines through 2 windows on my car & his side window, so where was the logic that my car was illegal?

He agreed with me, and said that as the meter said that the light passing through the tinted glass was below a set percentage (can’t remember what) regardless of what you could actually see through the glass, the tints had to come off.

I had to go back to the tint company & get them removed, and then go to an mot center and get the glass re- tested & send the result off to prove it had been done.

You do see cars with almost black side windows, so I can only assume, they simply haven’t been caught yet.

All in all, simply not worth having the front side glass done, but you can go as dark as you want with the back of the car.

Here's what the law says....

Cars after 1985

The front windscreen must allow at least 75% light through and the front side windows must allow 70% of light through. The rest of the car no limit.

That's what I thought about the windows but I have no clue on what the law is regarding tinting the front & rear light clusters, although I would have thought PC Plod would have something to say if he saw them out on the road.

Well What do you think of the legality of these?
I’ve been researching these tints since seeing a Mini Cooper show car at last years trax event at Silverstone.
This window tint lets through more than 75% of light so technically legal.
Not sure what it would look like on white though?

Yeah I have also been researching those after picturing the cooper.
I think it'll look rubbish on white, probably look at lot better on a bluey purple.
What do you think? Lol

I’ve been quoted £180 just for the front screen what do you think Mick? Wonder what it would look like all round? :eusa-think:

In fairness I'm only kidding as you know, I think it will look good but how far do you go before it starts to distract from what is already a fantastic looking car !

In 2005 I could not find a local (Mid-Essex) company to do a silver tint on the Mondeo Estate.
We were bringing our cats to Spain in a fitted cage in the rear of the car and I wanted reflective silver to reduce the heat if we got stuck in the sun.
Bought a roll of the stuff and DIY.
All glass back from front door pillars covered.
Bu99er to get on without wrinkles, and even more of a bu99er to get off once not needed.
Are these tints a film or spray on or what?

I didn't see your last post !!
That's a lot, though not a lot if you understand .
I thought that originally with mine if you remember but then I thought it might be to much all round. Hence the wolf on the back.
I think it would look good on certain cars, but with the likes of ours with what we have already done, will it be a step to far?

They are a film not too dissimilar to the wolf but not as heavy.
