Hi all,
New on here and after a little advice.
Seriously thinking of swapping my beloved Focus ST in for and RCZ. Been out in one today and although down on power I came away quite/very impressed. Looking at a 156 GT with loads of kit on it, met grey, leather, climate, f&r park sensors, mesh front grille + + +
Can I ask what some of you owners think and id the 200bhp version worth the extra? Any tip or advice would be appreciated.
Mike

:text-welcomewave: I'm not the best person to answer this question, as I have the 2.0 HDi GT (which is awesome) A lot of the features you mentioned are standard on the GT variant. But I would have thought that going from Focus ST you would have opted for the 200BHP. I suspect that you will love the feel of the RCZ and suggest strongly that you opt for the sports pack as it does give a better driving experience, with the smaller steering wheel and shorter gear stick. The car goes where you point it as if on rails. It's amazing and enjoyable. Anyways welcome to the forum.

Thanks for that I'll bear it in mind.
I did comment on the "van" steering wheel to the sales guy but he never mentioned anything about a sports pack, I'll rwad up a bit more on specs etc before I go back.
The 200hp version does appeal and the dealer has offered to get one in for me to have a run in, guess I'll take them up on that before I dive in.

Just as suggestions:- Look into the Sat Nav as it gives you so much more than merely a Sat Nav! Vision Pack so you can see well ahead on country lanes. Sports Pack as mentioned and Feline Pack which the one you test drove may have had as you mentioned the mesh grille. But the Quad pipes from the Feline balance the rear end off rather nicely.

It's got to be the 200.

Does depend on how you drive though. If you want to maintain a reasonable amount of speed - 200.
If you're not too bothered - 156.
If you want the best of both worlds - HDI.

You pays your money - You takes your choice.

Welcome to the Forum and enjoy - whichever car you get will leave you with a smile.

Hi Mike and welcome :greetings-wavingblue: . As Gorwell says, whatever your choice you won't be disappointed. As you can see from my footnote I've the 156GT and am well pleased with it but most of my driving is commuting in bumper-to-bumper traffic so there's no room for zoom! And as I traded up from a lesser horsepower I find the 156 plenty nifty anyway. Good luck with choosing  .

Thanks for all te advice folks, took a bit of time out today and decided to take a 200 out before I decide. The car in the showroom is attractive and well specc'd but I don't want to jump in to then regret not speccing one up for myself. I now do about 20K a year so a little time spent now will pay didvidends I rekon. I also believe a higher output engine may be on the way, any ideas when that may be?

Haven't driven a 156, but I have a 163 HDI and have driven a 200 and both have enough go to provide some fun.

Certainly the less powerful HDI isn't as quick off the mark, but the torque means it's reasonably quick A to B and for overtaking.

Spent a bit of time sorting out a spec last night and spoke to the dealer I'd been in. TBH I was quite surprised at the lack of product knowlege from the dealer (wasn't aware of the sport pack for example). Also by the time I'd added satnav, met paint, sport pack, bluetooth and feline it's getting into 2.0TT territory. That together with a frankly derisory offer on my car has persuaded me to look elsewhere. I may try emailing a couple of other dealers with my exact requirements and sell my car privatley 1st, on the other hand I might stick with the 5 pot Ford as after 5 years it still make me smile, not 100% convinced the Pug would have the same longevity?

Thanks again and will update with progress.

I wouldn't be at all surprised by the dealers lack of product knowledge. Most of the sales force that I have encountered in dealerships are order takers and wouldn't know how to sell. I went to one who didn't know how to upon a roof on a Citroen plurial. I did, as I'd watch a video on youtube, Whereas he had only been working in the same showroom as one and hadn't even been interested enough to take a look it!!! Mind you he didn't know how to open the boot either. Do your own research, as you are doing. That way you will know what you want to buy, that way the ignorant sales department will be able to cope with taking your order and trying to flog inflated priced Gap insurance, supaguard treatment, tyre insurance etc etc etc

Mike, maybe its just my personal opinion but i've found the PSA sat nav to be how should I put it.. "below par".

Worst case was in france in a new 5008 it seems to be a lot slower than most aftermarket ones.

Its over £1,000 option and in my opinion not worth the money. the car should have Bluetooth anyway and as a music lover i've never really found fault with the standard speaker setup. its by far and away the best I have had in any of my cars.

would save you a couple of grand and would certainly not dilute the experience of owning an RCZ.

I quite liked the ST  handling was spot on compared with the rest of the bunch and the 5-pot engine was a nice USP.
