Thought it maybe the rocker cover gasket leaking.. Slight rattle upon start up. But it passes very quickly.. As soon as it settle to correct idle after start up. Sounds normal. And nice smooth tick over.
But a misting of oil at top of engine. Certainly not major leak. As nothing noticeable underneath or even on the driveway. No warning lights on dash etc.
Going for MOT soon? Is it likely to be an advisory ?
Rather wait to see if it develops into a full chain rattle, than have a rocker cover repair done. Then find a cam chain/tensioner repair is needed in say another 6 months or so.
The car to be fair is only doing about 4000 a year miles? Hence my thinking on this. Rather do it all together than have separate bills and garage visits etc.
Any experiences/advice of these issues on the 156bhp petrol engine
are helpful..
Cheers
Baz
If your getting a start up rattle it may be time to change the timing chain tensioner (easy fix) as for the oil mist the oil vapour bypass connecting to the rocker from the turbo inlet are known to be an issue over time might so be worth having it changed
