Hello, I’m new to the forum and just looking to see if anyone can offer me any advice. I’m not car savvy so you’ll have to excuse the terminology.
I've had my rcz for nearly two years, a few weeks ago it went into limp mode and said engine error, a mechanic who lives round the corner from me said it was the catalytic converter (I had this replaced a year ago so found that hard to believe but he put it on a diagnostic and said it was that). I was still under warranty so Evans Halshaw sent it to the Peugeot garage, they said I had a leak and replaced the rocker cover gasket but they wouldn’t investigate further as my service was due, they told me that new spark plugs should fix it.
I had a full service and the same happened again the evening I collected the car, engine light, limp mode, fans blowing and Revs dial moving on its own.
Took the car to Evans Halshaw (the AA wouldn’t recover it as it still drove but they did give me diagnostic codes)... E.H looked at it and said it was the coil pack, they replaced 4 coils and I asked them to investigate the catalytic converter, the fuel pump, the oil leak, the two engine sensors (crank and cam sensor?) & the coils. They told me all was fine now the coils have been changed and sent me away (I have had a million issues with this car since I got it, alternator belt shredding, oil leaks, catalytic converter gone, all sorts).

I drove it on the motorway tonight and it didn’t feel 100%, but I’d just picked it up so I assumed it was nothing, I’ve just got in it and it’s chugged, died in the middle of the road like if you stalled, the engine light is on again and I’m at a loss!

I have no idea what it could be, I thought the fuel pump from reading past posts but they have checked it and it’s fine, it’s fully serviced and has new coils & it passed an emissions test.

my car is now out of warranty and my breakdown cover has run out but I got it in writing to say that E.H would fix it if anything happened from this same problem. Truth be told, I don’t think they know what they’re doing or looking for. It’s also making a weird clicking noise when I rev which it wasn’t doing when I took it in.
Any ideas?

Could be a few things, but given the scenario/s, the codes that you have posted (the P0087 etc) the actual symptoms, the fact as always they have replaced the coil packs and plugs etc and what you think yourself; the next one on the list is the High Pressure Fuel Pump, back to them as they have not fixed the problem. Could you have renewed the Warranty?

Once the car is fixed and your warranty has lapsed I would steer well clear of any Main Dealer for any servicing and diagnostics for a car of this age, find yourself a Specialist near where you live.

I asked them to check the fuel pump as I’ve seen a few threads on here saying high pressure fuel pump and they said this was checked and was fine, they’re checking it for a faulty earth wire but I just feel like it more than that to have a car of 35,000 miles to have a catalytic converter, a coil pack and this to now happen? Fuel pump seems like it could cause the other issues...
It’s not under warranty now but as I told them the issue before it lapsed, it’s being looked at and fixed... They had it recovered this morning and are looking into it but it’s been in 3 times..
they just can’t find the problem to fix it.

It has apparently got a new set of codes coming up today but it’s misfiring again!

oh believe me, I wouldn’t touch them with a 10ft pole, worst mistake to make, I’ve had so many second hand run around a with no issue then I took this one out and haven’t had a good week since I got it.
Thanks for the advice 🙏🏻

Timing chain issues it may be the chain tensioner is failing mine went at 35.250 klm & they are a known generic problem & it will cause all sorts of fault codes
