I have had my RCZ since registered in 2012. It has done 87,000 miles but has been utilised mainly for motorway driving between Essex and Heathrow Airport. Over the last four years, I have had four timing belt changes due to the fact that this is elongating. Fortunately, this has resulted in nil cost due to the warranty.
Recently, it has been utilising litres of coolant in between journeys. When I took it in for my service and MOT Peugeot, they were unable to thought this with the pressure test. However it has since got worse to the point where I’m topping coolant up daily. There has also been a smell of fuel in the cockpit and it has started to turn over for a few seconds before starting.
I have taken it to toomey Peugeot and been advised the total cost to fix this and the problems are over £3500. I have been advised there is a coolant leak from the engine mechanical unit which requires a new thermostat housing. There is also a reported fuel leak requiring stripping and the reason behind this is either an injector or fuel pipe issue.
There were no status messages when I took it in but according to Peugeot, the EM light came on and at a cost of £1000+, they will need to strip down and clean the engine to fix the non starting. It will clear the fault but is not always successful in the long run due to a build up on “polymers?”
Also, the front seat doesn’t move electrically anymore and there is stuck in position. I was quoted £1600 for a new seat as it requires a new motor. This then threw up the pretensioner/airbag fault which appears frequently.
With a new disc and some tyres I’m looking at £3500... is it worth it? Or should I give up on it and move on?
