Hi all. Bit of a mystery with my RCZ. So recently i noticed a puddle of oil on my driveway. I left the car in to a local garage and they changed the Rocker Cover Gasket. I picked the car up and next day noticed another puddle of oil on my driveway so obviously not the Rocker Gasket. I took the car back to the garage where they cleaned underneath and let the car idle up on the ramp and no leak at all and he checked all the usual areas including timing chain tensioner etc so i thought happy days. Oh no !!!!!! When i drove the car to work and back thinking everything was ok i noticed oil again on the inside of the osf wheel and it was very wet there. It looks like the oil is getting onto the driveshaft and covering the os of the engine bay ie chassis leg, driveshaft etc. What is going on with my car? It only leaks when driven and not at idle. I need help with this as i am considering just trading it in which would be a shame as i love the car and have spent £620 so far including a wheel refurb which i now regret. Any ideas anyone please??????? Thanks in advance.

My crankshaft oil seal failed and left oil all over that side of the engine.

As already mentioned crankshaft oil seal likely culprit, I’ve had them when someone has changed the timing chain and the guide rail bolts leak if not tightened or the rubber oil rings not changed. Good luck with it

Hi Kerr and Charlie1875. First off apologies for the late reply but i had notifications turned off and did not realise you guys had commented so apologies for that. I asked my mechanic today if he checked the crankshaft oil seal as he initially thought that might be the culprit but he says it was ok. If it was the crankshaft oil seal would that leak when the car was idling ? My car only leaks when the car is being driven and it is really annoying me and i need it resolved so any info as always greatly appreciated. Should i get the car booked back in with him and change the Crankshaft oil seal? I am no further on than last time although i had the car properly steam cleaned to remove the existing oil residue today so it it probably the best time to get it looked at again. Also is it a big job to change the seal or is it easy enough to get at?

Just spoke to my mechanic and he says he will need to check if it is a keyless crankshaft pulley or not as he says it would need pinned up with a timing kit which he does not have so would anyone know if it is keyless or not? Thanks

Hi mate, it’s a free pulley, so not a keyed pulley, the engine crankshaft will need locking with the correct tools, if your mechanic doesn’t know as a lot of garages don’t know much about the prince engine I would find someone who does know, hope that helps

Also, are you sure the garage refitted the new rocker cover gasket correctly? If not it can leak badly when warm and being drive, just a thought
