Heated rear window

I know were you coming from the upgrade bulbs but i changed all of them in the summer time and there is a rubber plug which should be air :eusa-think: tight if i am not correct,the thing is the condensation does dissapate but eventually it will build up leaving residue just like any window thus reducing light output and leave the headlamps looking cloudy inside

But not normal. Therefore by definition a fault. Needs sorting.

I will need to change the bulbs back to the OEM one's then before going to the dealers as i aint a happy chappy i have OCD as far as lights on a car as if you havnt noticed :lol: ]

Oh yes I have noticed. It does need to be resolved though as it is not normal. Returning to the OEM's prior to the visit would be my recommendation :thumbup:

In that case how is moisture getting into the sealed unit ?

It is condensation, cold air on outside of plastic lens meeting warmer air on inside of plastic lens, THIS IS COMMON AND NOT A FAULT, a plastic lens holds onto warm air longer than glass and they act like this when the ambiant temps vary in and around the lens, bigger the lens usually means more chance of it condensating. Sometimes if your lucky it may be very small or even not at all, luck of the draw as they say. The shape and size of the lens are big factors.

Jassy like you i have the LEDS and as they do not get as hot as normal bulbs it takes longer for the condensation to dissapear and burn off, you would also think though that because theres lower temprature changes with LEDs theres less chance of condensation :eusa-think:

By the way this was a big problem with the Vauxhall Astra rear lens, the manufacture tried all sorts of new seals, thinking it was a seal failure problem, but they were wasting their time, they found out that the problem was down to the plastic holding onto warm air from inside the lens, so in the end Vauxhall changed the design of the Astra lens mid way through 2007 so that it looked slightly hazy on the top of the lens, hence not curing the condensation but just disguising it !

Next time you are behind a Astra take a look at the top of the rear lens it is an opaque plastic on the updated 2007/2008 model, my seals were changed endless times until Vauxhall decided to swap the whole lens to the opaque syle, which personaly i thought looked terrible.

As for you Ron and your heated rear screen, you're using the wrong switch :lol: :eusa-whistle:

Yes the led's do not give off much heat hence the condensation hangs around for go while
