HDi Oil leak - sump removal

Hi all,

Had my RCZ 2.0 HDi almost a year now, been a great car and very reliable. Have had a slow oil leak for the past few weeks, coming from the rear corner of the oil sump. You can see in the photos that 2 of the screws are covered in oil, and that corner of the pan is damp which makes me think the sump needs to be removed and resealed. There is also oil on the adjacent intercooler pipe, which I assume has just been running down onto it from the leaky sump seal.

The pipe next to the sump will have to be removed to access the sump bolts on that side, has anyone here with the HDi removed either the intercooler piping or the oil sump? Is that pipe (circled in pic) easy to remove?

Are you sure that it is coming from the Sump and not from above like from the oil filter

Hi, thanks for the reply, I had ruled out the filter since it’s at the front of the engine and the leaking oil is at the rear right corner of the sump, unless there’s something just above there that could be causing it. The plastic intercooler pipe beside the sump is also coated in oil right next to where the sump is damp, so not sure whether it’s just ran down onto it from the sump seal or if it’s something higher up leaking…
