Handbrake - agree or disagree.

The RCZ getting a mention here for handbrake design. Personally, I agree with the observation. That said, I'd still pick it over the electronic handbrake that I have now!!

I can understand most if not all of the others mentioned on that page but I've never given the RCZ handbrake a second thought - it's just a handbrake isn't it?

That's not a cup holder though - it's a shallow coin tray! :lol:

The design was always rather odd looking to my eye. I'm not entirely certain for the reason behind its re-design because it isn't an aesthetic improvement I don't think. It's typically quirky though and I always kind of appreciated that at least.

As for the coin holder, I just used it as an air freshener holder. :lol:

I haven't really given it a thought either. It looks like a handbrake more or less. Atleast it serves the same basic function that a handbrake does, and not some weird button or pedal to step on..... It's just a normal handbrake that looks a little different.

My Megane CC had the handbrake shown. I was unsure at first, but after owning the car for a while, I actually liked the design. It seemed more intuative, a natural fit to your hand. The Z's handbrake rarely gets used mainly due to the hill assist. As its only ever on when parked, and not even always then, I don't really notice it much at all :eusa-think:

I quite like it, it stops my girlfriend climbing over the seats to get in the passenger side when its parked on the drive and she can't get to the passenger door. Well, unless she wants to run the risk of a rather painful surprise if it goes wrong!

Actually I think the design is quite functional and easy to use for those who also use the handbrake for handbrake turns etc. which is impossible with the silly foot and electric options.

Of course the ultimate functional handbrake design can be found in rally cars and the idea is to have all controls (steering wheel, gear shift and handbrake) close together and I feel that is what the design of the RCZ attempts to achieve.

Don't like! So agree! Interferes with my arm rest.

Although had a Merc and that was really stupid, pulled the lever to apply handbrake and pressed a pedal to take it off

Huh pretty sure you have it the wrong way around with the Merc. I guess your brake pads didn't last long!

I like it a lot. Because I can put my wrist on it and still be able to switch gears comfortably.

And about the Megane hand brake: this was brilliant by Renault and when pulling this lever it felt like you could apply hulk power to the hand brake. It was just perfect.
