Gremlins

Car has had to go back to the dealer for a few gremlins

1. Sticking handbrake - appears to be when setting off in a morning after heavy rain. Dealer has dismantled and reassembled but no apparent fault.

2. Nearside mirror occasionally not folding/unfolding when locking. Again no fault found.

3. Trip computer not updating. Apparently these stop at 10000km (I'd left my 2nd trip going so I could keep an eye on overall mpg).

4. No warning for low washer fluid level. Apparently only fitted with the Vision pack (you'd think having spent 25k on a car it would come with this?)

Wondered if anyone else had seen these issues?

Haven't had any of these yet but yesterday my dashboard alert flashed at least 8 times to say 'Parking assistance system faulty' even though the sensors were working perfectly well. I booked it in for a check-up next Tuesday and of course today it didn't go off (early days, I know, since I only had the early morning commute).

Hope you get your probs sorted

Hi Maf

With regards to your sticking handbrake. Not sure its the handbrake as such but when I have washed the car I then put it straight into the garage. The next morning when I come to move it, I release the handbrake and there is a bit of a clunk as I start to reverse out of the garage, as the brakes are released. My last car also did this (after it had been washed) so I don't think its anything to worry about.

I've not experienced any other problems, like you mention.

Yep the handbrake if applied after washing or if you go through floods  will stick, the disc rusts and sticks to the brake pads - hence the bang, all my cars do it if I leave the handbrake on after washing or after long term storage, so I always leave it off and put it in gear.

The only other problems I've had is when its very cold the handbrake light does not come on when I put the hand brake on, once it's above 0 deg C it's OK :wtf: also I think I've got dry anti roll bar bushes as I'm getting a little noise from them when I go over speed bumps etc - needs a drop of WD 40 I think.

Apart from that the car seems OK, I still keep burning my arse on the heated seats though  :helpme:

I've also noticed that clunking noise when releasing the handbrake first thing in the morning but only after it's been raining overnight. However, as my last coupe also did this I've just learned to expect it. On my previous subject of faulty parking system alert, yesterday I drove 50 miles without a peep out of it and again today have done 15 miles with no problems. Typical...like making a dental appt and then the pain goes away  . Still, will let them give Freddie the once-over in case it recurs.

Can anyone tell me if you can turn the heated seat off without having to turn it off each time you unlock the car.
No problem in the winter but summer time it can be a pain

You've baffled me with this statement! My seats don't switch ON until I manually flick the switch. I know FGRob and some others have been flicking the switch on by accident (and chunky thighs  ) but otherwise I don't think they come on unless you opt to HAVE them on :eusa-think: .

Regarding points 3 and 4 then thats not really faults if they were designed like that :eusa-whistle:

Regarding the Wing Mirrors..

Is it soley after reversing they wont fold in?

Not noticed it being just after reversing. It also didn't fold out when unlocking the car. Not happened since it went into the dealer - maybe it was just sticking, and dismantling/reassembling has fixed it.
