Great mpg but oh so boring

I have a 53 mile each way commute to work. Friday morning the computer told me I had 45 miles range. Sod filling up locally, the garage is out of my way I thought, I'll drive slowly to work as there is a petrol station 2 miles from work on my normal run.

So I did the 7 miles of country road to the m1 at a very steady pace then stuck to 70 on the motorway (dripping to 60 on hills) then 60ish on the last 10 miles of dual Carriageway. Took my time accelerating from junctions and roundabouts.

The result? 52.2 mpg over 51 miles distance. To me, that's amazing for a 200hp car. Boring as hell (I usually average 35) but nice to know it can manage it if needed.

It can be done if you take it steady and don't accelerate hard and brake gently, in plenty of time.

The RCZ is a car for both a bit of fun and a relaxed, economical drive :)

I only did 32 coming back that day to make up for it. Surprised you rarely get over 25 though. You are aware there is a gear stick ;)

I'm very pleased with my Petrol RCZ. I've come to see my parents and it's a 220 mile trip. She's averaged 47.0 mpg. My 508 1.6 SW only did 47.8 mpg on the same journey.

I do a fair bit of motorway and country road driving and I don't have a particularly heavy right foot but I'm still amazed that my mpg rarely drops below around 43/44 (using Shell Nitro +).

I have now done 5.400 miles in my 200THP since I picked it up on the 21st of July quite a few motorway miles when travelling with work but work from home some weeks so it all round the doors stuff and I have averaged 46.5 mph so don't think that's bad at all for having 200 ponies fighting to get out

Thats why the RCZ is perfect for me too. Best of both worlds!

I was driving a diesel Ford F250 not long ago and that baby did 15 mpg :)

This was from an advert I saw recently for a civic type r. Under 10 mpg. Clearly 1 careful owner!
