Evening all. Don't suppose anyone knows if the Rcz headlamps can be adjusted for driving in France. Or does one stick some of those stickie things on? I thank you.

Agree with Pete. The info that I was given about being able to have them "reverted" back to continental proved to be inaccurate.

seamus, when are you off to france mate? i'm taking my car to france on 21st august and i was wondering about the headlight issue aswell. i am aware of the sticky black plastic remedy but on my audi TT there was a lever you could flick and it would alter the direction of the beams. i don't think i can be bothered doing that myself, as i don't intend on doing too much night driving but i'm wondering what you are going to do?

Briefly went over there last year - not sure of your itinerary, this may help (what I found searching the net):
Daytime lighting is only required in cities/large towns but is rarely observed as a problem if it's not on.
Having 'stickie things' on is obviously only necessary when driving at night.
At this time of year, would you be driving in the dark?
It's certainly worth looking into whether you can get away with it.
If you get stopped, they'll probably be more concerned if you don't have the statutory flourescent vest & warning triangle....

where I am looking to get some headlight protectors and add the beam benders to the protectors, which can then be removed when back in the UK.
I now have some protectors, but what should I use to cut the plastic to trim the end down (bit nearest the grill) and then to cut a square hole for the locator leg.

I'm off to Versailles in September. Good point about night time driving. I suspect I won't be doing any at all. Now I'm confused. Lol. ;-)renegade79 said:

I'm going to normandy (d-day beaches) then down to La Rochelle and then back up to Brittany (Mont St-Michel). About 1100KM in total. One more thing i wanted to ask you. It's a requirement for french drivers to carry in their car a breathalyser machine. surely foreign visitors are exempt from this law? I'm being over cautious here but I dont want to get caught out. Any thoughts?

Yes that still is the law and foreigners are not exempt from carrying an éthylotest.
Interestingly, there is no fine in case you don't have it... :?

ha ha thanks frank. you sound like a man with first hand experience of le gendarme!!!!
i believe they can be bought over the counter in service stations so not hard to find one!!

Sounds like you have a longer journey than me. I did discover though that's it's illegal to have speed camera detection equipment on board. This includes tom tom etc. worth noting.
