C1, until recently, could only be bought and applied by professionals. It has now been launched to one and all to apply. I've never used it myself but forum member Astleyducks had his RCZ professionally detailed by Bespoke Car Care with C1. It can be tricky to apply because it goes "off" quite quickly so best to do a small section at a time and on very thin layers, as always. It is said to reduce swirls/scratches due to the coating that it gives to the paintwork and can last for up to 5 years. So for the price, it's very good indeed.

If you are thinking along the lines of c1 another product to consider may be cquartz ceramic paint protection kit

There is also this product by the same company which is also only for being professionally applied

Something to think about.

How do you find the C1 Jim? I don't know why, but it's never appealed to me. Maybe because it lasts so long, is what it puts me off.:)

The new C1+ which is different to old version is a lot easier now for the home user to apply slower curing but is now meant to be topped with C1.5+ with any nano coating the paint needs to be in very good condition as it will just highlight swirls more swirls will still come with C1 unless your wash technique is spot on. But of course with nano coatings the car tends to stay cleaner longer and easier to clean.

I had the C1 applied when the car was less than 2 weeks old and even so, the professional process of prep + application took a full day.
I am a total believer in such systems, given the ease at which they can be maintained compared to waxes and polishes.
Following Lee's efforts at Bespoke, I have only used about half a bottle of C2 in 1 year to top the coating up and I'm very pleased. No waxes or polishes on my car, just a light spray and quick wipe, so easy.
Whilst my blue car couldn't compete on the open day (see separate photo laden threads) with the showroom finish on RCZ1's white beauty, in my eyes the dolphin wasn't too far behind, with far far less effort from me. I don't have the time or passion of others to keep my car utra-clean, the coating route is perfect for me. :greetings-wavingblue:
Having watched Lee for a while when labouring on my car, i would agree with the advice given that it goes on sparingly, in small areas.
Cheers

astleyducks, it's very kind of you to say that, but your car looked stunning as seen in this photo. The shine is incredible. :)

Well I eat my words because I've just bought some Gtechniq C1+ and C1.5 to apply to my OH's new car. In fact it's going to be totally Gtechniq'd.

I looked at loads of new sealants on the market. There are so many to choose from these days with very little to choose between them. The one thing they all offer is durability. I came close to choosing the one that Lee at Bespoke Car Care is offering to RCZ owners but eventually decided on Gtechniq for the simple reason that it would be easy to top up now and again. The OH's car does a lot of mileage, travelling all around the country so I needed something that would be hard wearing but provide lots of protection but also offer a great shine. The alloys will be protected with C5 as the car creates tons of brake dust, the trim will be treated with C4 (of which there is a LOT) and the windows with good ole G1.

Just need some dry weather now please :)

Is hand polish good enough for C1+?

Obviously you need to have super duper clean paintwork that has been fully decontaminated. When it comes to polishing if there are any swirls, then hand polishing is not going to remove them as well as a machine but will reduce them. Once C1+ is applied then you are sealing the paint as it stands so they are sealed in. C1 can only be removed by machine polishing. I suppose ultimately you would have to decide of you were happy with your paintwork before applying it.
