Is low pressure fuel pump in fuel tank a common replacement issue, and does a failed one affect emissions test please?

Low pressure pump will/should last the life of the car its what is put in the tank that causes problems ( Cheap Dirty Fuel)
Fuel pumps don't normally affect emissions unless the car is running too rich which may be the fuel rail system a timing issue fuel pressure sensor or even a Lambda sensor failure its a case of tracking down the faults through the OBD codes & fuel trim graphs on a scanner

Read that a few low pressure fuel pumps have failed after running out of or running very low on petrol. Maybe they drag some muck in from the bottom of the tank.
