100 miles on half a tank on my 156 GT does'nt sound very impressive.

Is it the first half tank? Any stage two spoiler deployment or London traffic? So many things that can affect fuel economy. Are you SAFED trained?

Right, I'm not overly heavy on the gas pedal but am only getting a return of 30mpg in my 156. Most of my Mon - Fri driving is urban and at weekend I get to stretch its legs and see incremental improvements but even then it's fractional.

No, this is not the first half tank,the car had 2000 miles recorded by the previous owner,i'm returning 29-30mpg urban driving so should be capable of 350miles per full tank but will be lucky to achieve 200miles the way things are going,it's booked in to get looked over next week.

As I said before, this is about the mpg that I am averaging and don't come anywhere close to 350 miles from a tank. Will be following with interest to see what the garage say. Please keep us updated!!

If i'm not mistaken 55 litres(full tank)=12.2 uk gallon x 29mpg should= 353 miles.

That looks like good maths to me!! However, I never hit anything like that from a tank even with a 30 mpg consumtion!! My car has now done just shy of 3000 miles and would have expected to have a realistic and improved return on a full tank by now!!

Just seems very peculiar, i owned a VW Scirocco prior to changing to the RCZ and was consistently achieving 350 miles per full tank(also 55 litres) with an average mpg of 30, very similar figures to the RCZ,i regularly tripped the computer on the VW to confirm these figures and did the same with my RCZ but i'm finding the Peugeot will only achieve 200-250 miles,however all could become clearer once those wonderfully profficient Peugeot technicians initiate a diagnostics check.
I'm not at all convinced the fuel tank is 55 litres. It says in the handbook it's "approximately 55 litres" but even when really low I don't think I've managed much more than about 45 litres.
Still, that costs enough as it is...

I believe the 55 liters.
The most I've refueled was 53.23 l.
Usually tank size is as indicated + 5 l reserve.
BTW I average 5.7 l/100km = 50 mpg (diesel, that is, the fuel that lasts the longest!)

In my 156 GT petrol I've done 550 miles since new and so far averaged 33.5mpg.
With the exception of an airport run from West London to Stansted and back, all of my mileage has been done at peak times in London traffic, with no journey lasting more than 15 miles. My average speed is 13mph !.
So although I'm not exactly chuffed with the fuel consumption it's exactly what I'd expect. First long trip on country roads over the long weekend so hoping to see the dizzy heights of 40mpg !.

Samwell your absolutely right,i filled my car up today for the first time when the fuel light came on,it only took 40 litres to fill it,so with the reserve holding 5 litres plus the additional 40 litres i added this obviously equals a 45 litre fuel tank,this goes along way to explaining why i'll only achieve between 250-300 miles on a full tank.
I know the handbook suggests the fuel tank should hold approx 55 litres but i can assure everyone mine only holds 45 litres.

I was on reserve today (HDI GT) milage said I had 24 miles left.
I filled up - it took 51 litres.

55 litre tank does seem to be a bit pie in the sky. I keep a log of all my fuel and the most I've ever put in is 46 litres and it's always filled up, even when it says I have less than 50 miles of fuel left.
However, I also log how many miles I get per tank of fuel and apart from a couple of occasions, get 350+ miles and a lot of the time 400+. I don't do motorway driving. Mainly commute to work and country roads at a weekend.
Must also add that I buy my fuel from Asda !

Of course if your able to achieve 40+ mpg you'll easily achieve 400+miles on a full tank,however the crux of the matter here does appear to be the size of the fuel tank,i'm no expert on the subject but it does appear strange that the fuel tank size can range from 45 litres to 55 litres from one car to another built by the same manufacturer,please share with us your actual fuel tank size if you are aware of it?

The tank is def not 55 litres my old bimmer had 55 litre tank and cost £75 to fill up with super unleaded, with car running on fumes. And now with petrol price increases my RCZ only costs £63 to fill when empty so it must have a much smaller tank than 55 litres
