 OMG 2 weeks! They're taking the pi**! Like you said swapping the alternator is just clutching at straws sounds like they haven't got a clue
For me it could be that the timing is out it's quite a complicated setup which requires specialist tools to set up whoever replaced the timing kit could have balled it up! Or could be carbon build up around the valve area which can be a problem rough idle is a symptom of this.
It needs to go to a specialist to sort or you need to get a full refund and look for another car. :eusa-think:

bit of an update. took 5 WEEKS to get the car back. turned out to be a number of issues but the main culprit was the high pressure fuel pump apparently so far seems ok.

no it was available car in castle donnington, car seems ok now, ive just got to try and regain my trust in it. if it faults again though itll be rejected. far too much hassle for a car. my 12 year old astra had no issues for the 2 years i owned it .

That’s where I got mine from. They told me that it was impossible to repair a minor curbing on one of the diamond cut wheels. I didn’t know any better at the time.
I think they will say most things to sell a car.
