Response By E-mail (Manisha Nakra) (16/08/2016 06.00 PM)
Good afternoon,

Thank you fro your email about your Peugeot RCZ.

I have checked our system for you and I can confirm that there are no recalls on your vehicle at all.

To find out more about software updates you can contact your nearest dealership.

:? Some owners report software updates carried out.

Guess what...?

Its gone wrong again. Same issue. Exactly the same as last year. I left it on the dealers door step and posted the keys through the door.

Any specialists that can try their hand at the THP in the wiltshire ? I will probably need them.

Time for a change.

So..
This time I have a coil pack gone.
It will explain the symptoms......
Just will not stop that ever sinking feeling that it will fail again.
130 pounds to reset the code, buy and fit the item. They are 25 quid plus VAT to buy on their own. I am getting three more and changing them my self..

I changed a coil on my old fiat stilo and I am not mechanically minded so it is definitely something that anyone can do!

Hi there,

Just to add that out of the Blue I received a call from my Peugeot dealer just yesterday to say that there was a recall on my June 2015 Petrol RCZ GT for a HEE Engine Management Software Update …. also mentioned ECU, She was unable to give me detailed info so thought I would drop in here to find out more.

As I am just on 750 miles (was a brand new Z with only 7 miles on the clock which had sat in the show room for over a year) thought I would wait till I took it for the One Thousand mile check in the New Year and get it done then.

Unless urgent of course?

I had seen several people mentioning a software update, but when mine went in for its 3rd service a couple of months ago, I asked, and was told there was no update available. :eusa-think:

They also told me they would never recall for an update, but only ever check for one if a customer complained of a problem :eusa-think:

I think there are noticeable differences between dealers.

It would seem so….. perhaps you could contact another Peugeot Dealer :eusa-think: the Lady who contacted me yesterday did say that as I am a 70 mile round from them (where my Z was purchased) I could get it done elsewhere.

Hope things are sorted for you

I might give my local dealer a call. I don't use them as I had a very bad experience with them several years ago with a different car (big time rip-off) so I go to another dealer @ 7 miles away for servicing etc, but no harm in giving them a call & asking them to check if there is a software update.

Glad I'm not the only one having this type of issue. I bought my rcz less than 2 months ago. Ran rough straight away and was eating 8 mpg . Juddered like hell in idle. Hesitated when accelerating. Coolant sensor fault pops up all the time and about 6 or so other issues. Been to available car where I bought it and it's had new alternator that 2 weeks later was broken again so 2 new alternators. It's had the ecu recall update
Timing chain replacement. New coolant sensor. Now they're saying the ecu may be faulty and the coil packs . They're now under instruction that if it does not return to me fully repaired it will be returned as undesirable and I'll never buy another rcz. Hopefully all issues get sorted but I'm doubtful

What a nightmare! Such a shame your in this position I would assume that your dealership are part changing until hopefully they get the right part! The alternator issue is interesting I know under performing batteries are a common issue throwing up all sorts of running problems.
Hope you get it sorted and start enjoying you Z.

The ecu went off for examination and I'm assuming repair I'm waiting for the call today to find things out. I'm also going to request new coils as they originally thought that was an issue before they started banging on about the ecu. So I'd rather they just fit new ones before I drive it and have more issues.
Should probably add my rcz is the 1.6 2011 156 gt in shark grey. Looks stunning just drives like crap lol

thought id update everyone on my rcz current status, ecu came back with no fault reported. cars been with them over 2 weeks and still no fix. theyve now said that they are replacing the alternator for the third time but this time with a peugeot one as the ecu may have not been able to recognise the ones they`d fitted from eurocarparts.
told them thats fecking stupid, why would you use non Peugeot parts?

not sure if alternator accounts for rough running, poor economy and breaking down etc.

add to that the fact theyd painted the rims and not told me so that when i noticed peeling on the alloys they backtracked and added that to the repairs, bonnet misaligned and headlights misaligned , gash in rear tyre and a bunch of other stuff theyre very close to a trading standards visit.

ill let you all know how things go

 OMG 2 weeks! They're taking the pi**! Like you said swapping the alternator is just clutching at straws sounds like they haven't got a clue
For me it could be that the timing is out it's quite a complicated setup which requires specialist tools to set up whoever replaced the timing kit could have balled it up! Or could be carbon build up around the valve area which can be a problem rough idle is a symptom of this.
It needs to go to a specialist to sort or you need to get a full refund and look for another car. :eusa-think:

I've recently visited available car at two sites in the York area and I know they do sell cheap cars but the ones we looked at were either rough or high mileage and I know they have their own workshops where they prepare all their own cars.I must admit I didn't have much confidence in them at all :eusa-think:
And by the way the Z uses a timing chain not a belt just in case they said the belt had been changed?

Yeah my fault on the typing there it was supposedly a full timing chain replacement. They said there's a timing chain replacement kit :/ gave them hell yesterday and put some fire under their butts I hope. If Friday (which is exactly three weeks they'll have had it then) rolls around with no progress then I'm going to either request they send it to Peugeot for specialist attention or just reject the car and post an accurate review of them across the accumulated 20k people on all my social media. Fingers crossed for a good result though.
