Hi All,

About 3 months ago I developed a knocking sound from the nearside front, which is only apparent when going over rough roads or speeds bumps.

When she went for her MOT in February the only advisories being slight play in the steering and split rear strut dust covers.

With that in mind I changed both inner and outer tie rods and both ball joints, and new low milage front and rear struts to no avail.

After lots of research on here I today changed the fluidic engine mount but again nothing has changed.

The only things left to change now are the lower arms, anti roll bar bushings and the remaining 2 engine mounts.

The only upside is, every time I change something the car feels nicer and nicer to drive as she's covered 150000 miles now lol

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻😊

Cheers

Jon

Well, you'd also have to look for cracks in the bodywork near those top mounts or where the suspension arms are attached.

Subframe ? Why would the subframe be loose if its knocking when the suspension is being compressed over bumps its geometric linked to all the front suspension components as in top mount bearings etc A broken coil spring or anti roll bar & wishbone bushes or even a track rod end if the subframe was loose you would possibly be hearing a bang on both sides ?
Not uncommon for a failed wheel bearing to cause a knock but its a case of elimination of the above my car failed its mot on the front nearside spring so I changed both springs & all the top strut components as they are a known issue on all these cars & the handling went to almost factory default once all that work was done never rule out anything when a knock starts off

Thanks for your input pedro

I guess your right about the subframe, I did also wonder about the wheel bearing but wouldn't I have play?

So far this is whats already been replaced in order...

2x front drop links
2x inner & outer tie rods
2x complete top mounts & bushings
2x Low mileage front shock absorbers
(H&R Lowering springs inspected no cracks or breaks)
1 x Right hand fluidic engine mount

So Ive just ordered the following ...

2x Front Lower suspension arms
2x anti roll bar bushes

Fingers crossed it works this time 🙏
