Has anyone had there brakes sorted , as my dealer is saying there is nothing from peugeot and my squealing brakes are because of car being out in all weathers and have gone rusty and I will have to pay for disc and pads to be skimmed - my R is only 10 months old !!!

unless your car was sitting in standing water for those 10 months I don't see any reasons why brakes shall be replaced due to rust. what an excuse.
go on some spirited drive and let those brakes work! this will sort it.

Now that's very interesting....I saw my dealer this week and my discs won't be in till next week. He did say though that it is a known fault with the R and that's why they are changing the discs.

I will see what I can do hopefully with the help of my dealer to assist everyone with this.

Amber, please excuse if I repeat myself but this sounds like a cheap excuse.
What kind of issues with the discs on the R is your dealer referring to? Exactly what?
There are no issues with those Alcon discs at all. The only issue existing (and you need to check if that relates to your car anyway) was wrong brake pads on those early R (like mine). As soon as you switch to the Ferodo pads, all is sorted.
I've been driving on those "wrong" pads for over 10.000 miles putting some serious stress (emergency braking from 157mph, going to the Alps, etc) on those discs (heat-wise) and they are still in great shape. That proves to me, they can handle a lot of abuse.

I mean, if they pay you those discs, fine, let them change. But if not, you are going to face a +1000 pounds invoice

Yep this is all under warranty and obviously, I can only go by what my dealer has told me. There is clearly an issue though as soooo many of us have squealing brakes and a lot of the reviews I read prior to buying stated the same during their tests.

got a same problem with a squeaky brakes on my RCZ R, today i'm going at my peugeot dealer, they have a new set of ALCON discs ready for me, it's some kind of a revision, the old ones were faulty because of used material = squeaky noise when you break at low speeds, so maybe this could help someone, i'll see, if this helps...

Just as a side-note, I've fitted Ferrodo DS2500 pads to my XKR and they are excellent, so I wouldn't be to unhappy that Pug are swapping to Ferrodo DS's

And don't get me started on unusual tyre sizes... 255/35/20, 285/30/20... ££££ for all 4!

For the RCZ have you checked out TyreLeader

Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/40 ZR19 96Y - £150/tyre at present (although prices change daily) which I think is pretty epic for very good tyre! I'm just about to order another pair for the front of my 200GT as I have them on the rears, but the front Conti's keep unexpectedly losing grip in the wet on slow, tight corners, got about 4mm of tread left too... - not a nice feeling! :wtf:

I have around the same tread on my front Conti's and I have exactly the same problem. I still have Conti's on the rear that have over 6mm left, and they seem fine.

I am thinking of getting MPSS for the front later this year too :eusa-think:

Glad it's not just me... I thought I was going mad, driving round base I've nearly hit the kerb a few times when it just went on me, was driving pretty sensibly too... I stuck it into a wet roundabout the other day and it understeered most of the way round too which was not what I was expecting!! for Contis (although they are great on my Octavia...)

Morning all,

Sorry to open an old thread, but I've got to the point where my R has this issue.
Low speed brake squeaking has recently started and is gradually getting a tad worst. Its not a big issue yet, but will get more annoying I'm sure.

My R is 2 years old now (so still within warranty) and has only done about 15k (for reasons I won't bore you with)

So at what point is this seen as a warranty claim, how bad do they need to get.

I'd be very interested to hear from guys like Amber and dr_chaos about how the warranty claim went, The last time I discussed brake squeak with my dealer (before my issue started admittedly) they checked their Pug system and said there was no warranty change for this issue, nor any recall.

Thanks

Might be an idea to print this thread & take it to your dealer, or at least show him it on your tablet/phone/computer so you have proof that 1 it is a recognised issue & 2 Peugeot have acknowledged this by replacing other cars pads/discs FOC.

Even if it hasn't reached the point yet where it is a real problem, it is a good idea to bring it to your dealers attention before it gets really bad (point out that it could even become a safety issue) & see what they say. If no joy with them, you could do all the above directly with Peugeot.
As this has been sorted for other R's there can be no reason why they shouldn't sort yours.

Post how you get on.
