In fourth month of ownership and after 6000 miles...
On Saturday I am driving at a respectable legal speed when there are three loud beeps and the panel in front of me says in alarming fashion:

ENGINE TEMPERATURE FAULT
STOP VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY

and temperature gauge reads 130°C (maximum)

I dutifully decelerate and move towards the hard shoulder, but before I get a chance to bring the car to a stop, the warning disappears and the temperature gauge swings back to the normal position. Drove another 50 miles home without incident...

Called dealer and booked an appointment for later today, to see if there is a sensor issue or maybe there was a circulation problem but then the pump kicked in?

Then yesterday the same message came up approx 30 minutes into my journey so I completely ignored it and again it corrected itself after about ten seconds.

Yea sounds like the dreaded faulty sensor has struck again.

Same sensors are used across BMW / PSA ranges so Until their contract runs out with their current supplier I can't see it being sorted out. It's obviously low enough volumes affected that -unfortunately - PSA dont see the need to change the sensors on all cars.

It's a fair point, and yet having had my sensor replaced under warranty just over a year ago I got a phone call out of the blue a couple of weeks ago from Peugeot head office telling me there was a recall, my car was affected and could they book me in to my local dealer to have the temp sensor replaced :?:

Just back from the main dealer with my courtesy car (RCZ GT 1.6) as it transpires they found the coolant housing was defective as well as potentially a defective sensor.

To add insult to injury, they advise that all Rs are being recalled due to a potential safety issue and the front suspension wishbones must be replaced. Oh well, never mind!

Having just taken delivery of an R I will independently enquire of my Dealer & see what they say.

This is the response I got:

It is true some have come through with a defect in the front wishbones, but you will be pleased to know that your car was not affected. (This was checked before you took delivery of it!)

Thanks for that update!
Now it starts to make sense why my dealer told me, I got to be patient with the shifting delivery of my R as there are some "issues" to be sorted first. Oh dear, I hope it doesnt last too long and I will welcome her finally in June. :sleeping-yellow:

I guess that's the downside of having what was supposed to be the first one in the UK - I will get to find all the issues for the rest of you!!!!

And a few years down the line (when I get an R) I will be greatful for your hardships and the resolutions that will come from them

I rang my dealer today to ask if my car was the subject of a recall. Apparently it isn't

Took the car in today to try and resolve persistent squealing of brakes since wishbones replaced. They are still trying to fix that for me. They said it was handy Ii was in, because there is now an official recall for the temperate sensor problem I started this thread about, and they need to look at mine again even though it was replaced just a few weeks ago!

I assume for all thp engines. Just picked up a 13 plate car and the dealer printed out the service history for me. Mid April this year it had the temp sensor replaced under a recall. It's a 200 bhp version but it must be a common part across these engines.

Even though mine is sorted, I have had a recall letter in the post today, dated 15 May. It is headed "Quality Campaign ZRV". Recall notice says: "Within the Peugeot quality programme it has been identified that your vehicle may have a potential problem with the temperature sensor integrated in the water outlet unit that may cause the coolant temperature warning light on the instrument panel to come on erratically".

As your one was recalled in mid-April they may well be recalling them model-by-model. If it is the same make of sensor at fault, surely any car that has this part should have been recalled at the earliest opportunity?

i am new to this site, i purchaced a 60 plate RCZ 1.6 THP GT with 30000 miles on 4 months ago.
I had the temp warning light come on within 6 weeks and it went into Limp mode (max 20mph).
i took it back, it was sent to a peugeot dealer and repaired under warrenty.
It has now happened again, this time it was out of the 3 months warrenty they gave me.
Now peugeot say I have problems with the upper knock detection and VVT lift system
There are problems with the actuators jamming due to worn gear drive, only repairable by replacing the cylinder head.
Quote price £2697.56.
It says in the report there are Technical bulletins relating to both faults, but I cannot find anything.
Does anyone have any ideas please.
