Hi all!

-Long time lurker, since about 2010! give or take few months.

I've loved the shape of the RCZ ever since I saw one driving up my street just after release and promised myself once I had the financial stability I'd go out and buy one!

I've had peg coupes since passing my test. Mostly so in the From of the lovley 406 Coupe..A red 2.0, Blue 3.0 V6 and finally a Gorgeous Solstice Gold 2.2 Hdi (sat nav etc) that only had 36k miles on her when she was stolen.

I've been driving a 407 Coupe for 3 years now waiting for the right RCZ to come along as I did't want to loose out on the toys my current car has got..

Anyhow, moving swiftly on. The 407 has crpet up to 55k from the 11k that was on it when I bought it. Hence me thinking it was time to change.

I've put a deposit down on a black Hdi 2013 RCZ with the sat nav option and some other nice toys!

It doesnt have Xenons, which was the only thing putting me off the car, but I can live with that! I'm sure there's upgrades available. Hopefully getting it next weekend as I have to transfer my private plate >.<

Happy days!

Aaah...you played the long game to devastating effect. She sounds wonderful!! There are indeed upgrades (in the form of upgrades bulbs or HID kits) so definitely not a reason to get disheartened!!

Anyway, welcome to the forum and congratulations on realising your ambition!

Hi' and Welcome :greetings-wavingblue: to this great Forum which is an essential place to hang out when your not driving, staring at or detailing your Z' ..AND there's folk on this Forum that have lifted detailing to the heights of a religion and like a cult its hard to resist once you see the results of their labour compared against the results of your own !

It won't be long before you'll be further contributing your love of the Z' from the back benches and soaking up the abundant knowledge of shared Z' experience. ..Enjoy both Forum and your car ,,as i'm sure you will

.the big blue (oh', and detailers never use washing up liquid on their cars ,,,it was a long time ago OK ! )

I love your taste in cars.
You have driven the most beautiful Peugeot coupe's and the RCZ is a worthy successor!
Let us know how you feel about the HDi compared with your previous diesel blocks.

If you're not going the route of an HID kit (which remains a very grey area for MOT purposes), I'd actually recommend the Osram Nightbreaker Plus (Gold tipped edition) bulbs. They're the best bulbs for the RCZ that I've encountered. They're the "whitest" regular bulb that I've encountered without making compromises...and I've tried and tested the best that are currently on the market. (RCZ-performance, you need to add them to the shop.) The Gold edition bulbs were limited edition so are a little trickier to source but can still be found on Amazon and eBay.

Unfortunately my supplier does not carry these bulbs, but we are checking with another one.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

Have been across to the dealer (2 hours drive again) today to finalise payment and sort out a few "freebies", which were added on with the sale at no extra cost. Also had another drive in the RCZ, I'm conviced it feels much faster than the 200 I drove last week, probably because of the torque, but it was excellent.

I must say, the Peugeot dealership in Keighly is bloody brilliant!

Thanks for the comments RE:Lights. As for detailing, my 406 V6 and my 407 have both won concourse awards at the PCSUK shows. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to detailing, mostly to the point where clay baring alloys and then spending 4 days polishing and waxing them makes my wife think I'm nuts!

Here's a few pics of the Red 406 :)

Here's the only remaining pic (failed hard drives suck eh?) I had of my beloved Solstice when I bought her "on the spot". Police never did find out where it went :/

Cheers all

Unfortunately since the Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs are discontinued we cannot source them. They have been replaced with the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited, which we can get if anyone is interested.

Looks like you know a thing or two about detailing Robbie!! Hope you'll share some of your expertise and product knowledge.

What's that on the boot catch? Is it a playing card design?

It's a boot badge from the left hand drive / french version of the 406 coupe that I picked up at one of the shows. I guess I've had my fair share of detailing days, but I guess it just takes time to detail a car to show condition. usualy a schedule of what bits to clean over the space of 2-3 months and then a final clean the day before the show.

I tend to stick to products that dont use chemicals, Dodo juice products are excellent and applying wax by hand to the curves always gives some perverse satisfaction! ;)

My new car will be ready tomorrow, or so I'm told. I had a good look at the paintwork, and even though its only done 11k miles there's a lot of surface scratches from bad washing that I'll need to get rid of, first and foremost though I'll be treating the interior carpets to a shampoo and the leather will be getting reconditioned.

Pics this weekend hopefully!:)

Did you use a Dodo wax on the red car? Orange Crush or Banana Armour?

I used a really soft wax on the red car that doesnt last as long as other waxes but gives an amazing deep/wet like shine, more so on red cars:

I need to read up on detailing black cars as I'm sure the paintwork is going to be a swine to keep glossy.

Ah I came close to buying that wax a few months ago but after reading reviews and seeking opinions, in the end decided not to. As its a wax that doesn't cure and remains very oily, I was worried that constantly trying to buff the wax off would marr the soft Peugeot paint.

I was pointed towards BMD (Black Magic Detail) waxes and haven't looked back. Helios, Sirius (their show wax) are both lovely waxes to use and do look good on my red paint.

Do you always use waxes or have you tried sealants? I like the look of sealants on black paint for the reflectivity and shine.

Some more questions :)

What polishes or pre wax cleanser / glaze did you / do you use?

I like to know what goes into the finish

Sorry for the late reply, just got home more or less with the Z!

I tend to:

Give the car a good rinse with the powerwash and then wash the wheels with dodo juice ph neutral wheel cleaner
Snow foam (car pro)
Wash and rinse with the 2 bucket, 2 sponge method (dod juice ph neutral car shampoo)
Dry with microfibre mits
Clay the whole car (R
Treat the sills and under sills to Iron-X
Rinse (again)
Check car for scratches, or mark of panels with masking tape
Machine polish the scratches with a Menzerna polish, depends on the depth of the scratches though
IPA wipedown to remove old polish, wax and any other "contaminants"
Zaino Z2 Pro. sealent I
Finsh off with some Megs #16 Professional Paste Wax
Top off with the wax of the month, usualy Migliore Frutta
Clay the alloys, use quick detailer and dry them, apply some good wax such as Megs #3
Clean the interior - clean the leather and give it a good moisturising with autoglym leather care

Hope theres enough info there, its getting late!:)
