Fan Speed In Auto (Climate Control)

Quick question :
If the climate control is set on "low" and in "auto", should the fan adjust automatically as the interior temp drops.

I find that if I select auto and low, the fan goes into hurrican mode but does not drop/slow as the interior temp drops.

Maybe the cars interior is still to high for the fan to slow, but after driving for 20 minutes or so I would of thought that the fan would of started to adjust itself. :eusa-think:

The next setting up from low is 14, and the fan does then run a bit slower in auto, but in the low setting it just keeps pinning my ears to the rear screen. :?

Jactac, I am pretty sure that the lo setting puts the fan on permanent max speed. You should set the temperature you want and let the auto system do it's job. It will get you to the set temperature asap ie. it won't get there any faster by having it on lo.

Hans is right. Setting it to lower won't cool the interior envy faster. The system has a maximum heat transfer capability. It will use that if the difference between the setting and the actual temp is big, only reducing to a lower setting when it gets close to the dialled temp - except for Lo, where it goes full power regardless. This wastes fuel because you never get to the control point where it throttles back.

I agree. Selecting low is akin to merely having Air Con, the system will simply chug along forever as it has no temperature setting for it to reach. The same is true at the opposite end of the scale, by setting Hi it will just chug along. The system is designed for you to set the optimum temperature and let the system either warm up or cool down in order to achieve that setting. It works a treat and so I never drive with my windows open. I let the climate control, control the temperature whilst I enjoy the sound system

Thanks guys, I thought as much but nice to know its not faulty.

It does feel though that the "low" setting is slightly colder than the minimum numbered setting of 14, whether on auto or just straight forward A/C.

I dont think it's the coolest A/C that I've had in a car though, not by a mile.
