This is going to sound familiar, there are a number of similar posts already.
Perhaps the moderators should work on a sticky, I think this might sadly become all too common.
200GT THP. 14months, 16,000 miles.
July - Engine Fault, repair needed, but no accompanying change in engine behaviour. Warning message self-extinguished before making it to far flung dealer. 2 days in diagnostics, nothing untoward discovered.
August - Engine fault - repair needed. Like driving a milk float. Struggled to do 30mph, let alone 50 in 'get me home mode'. Made it to local dealer.
Same day response - 'it's like one we had 1 month ago'.
Following day - 'needs new cylinder head'. Apparently Pug ask mechanics to look for certain markings, if they have them, then replacement is needed.
Ordered from Peugeot, delivery estimated in 7 working days. Actually only received in 9 days, today, and being fitted along with other gubbins, minimum 2 day job, many apologies but not ready until after bank holiday (Fair enough by me).
I've researched the net and I'm not alone by any means. The 200THP pug engine has had (at least) one design flaw remedied compared to DS3 owners, but may still have another (timing chain pinion may slip and hence the engine loses its valve [and ignition?] timing). Whatever my specific issues, I'll post the full post-mortem when I get the wreckage back next week.
I've racked up a fair few miles in a brand new 208 in it's absence. It drives a bit like my dying rcz but 70mpg can't be sniffed at. Nice motability stickers!!!!! You have to laugh. Eric Idle, Olympics........
My dealer appears to know what they are doing, compared to some of the horror stories out there. It worries me that Pug (and others using the THP engine) seem to be dealing with serious THP flaws on an ad-hoc basis.
My early production mini saw loads of dealer-time compared to this, thus far, but I shall be asking some serious questions next week.
More to come.
