Engine Fan

Hi All,

I have the RCZ 156 THP. I have had it since February and despite some teething troubles (timing chain..) I love it.

However the engine fan is really starting to annoy me. It is not a constant issue but id estimate well over 70% of the time the engine fan comes on and stays on for the duration of a drive. The temperature gauge always shows fine and the car drives fine which is why I have ignored it until now but it cant really be normal surely?

It also stays on for maybe 3 or 4 minutes after I have stopped the engine too. Like I say it doesnt seem to have any impact on the car but if there was an easy way of sorting it out that would be great. Is there a sensor that governs when this fan comes on that could be faulty?

Any info would be most appreciated.

Yes there is such sensor thermostat or temperature sensor, this exact behavior happened in 2010 berlingo we had(1.6 hdi) which was caused by faulty thermostat first it just started turning on the fan really quickly and leaving it on for 3-4 minutes after the engine was turned off untill it finally died, idk if its same on the petrol cars, although thermostats arent really expensive you could try replacing it, if you cant find it i suggest using servicebox and searching around the engine with your vin, if you find it and buy replacement one, and want to replace it, firstly make sure the engine is cold, there will be some coolant pouring out soo just use a towel to cover any electronics in facility of the sensor and make sure you plug it back into the system as this might cause an error.
