Tried to find any similar posts but all seem different and not quite the same.

Recently I've had new plugs, battery, coil pack, thermostat, timing chain/ tensioner etc etc replaced.

Runs beautifully all the time except when cold starting.

Makes the usual odd noises together with a quick misfire, which don't sound problematic , EXCEPT when setting off there is a noise at low revs which on an old engine I would have described as a bearing rattle. It sounds for a couple of seconds (engine firing on all 4) but thereafter nothing untoward and drives spot on for the rest of the day.

No error codes shown.

The oil was changed within the last 500 miles but I must admit not to have checked it manually as our drive is on a slope.

Car has done 91k

Any thoughts.

Possibly carbon build up on inlet valves, cold start up enhances the problem not sure about the noise though :eusa-think: on a 91k engine it’s gonna need the inlet valves cleaning anyway specialist job but not too expensive the mini guys have been doing this for quite a few years now.

After taking it for a couple of long runs the misfire first thing seems to have gone along with all the associated noises/rattles.

I'm not too bothered as it drives perfectly and I've spent quite enough for now!
