EEK! I need new tyres...

2012 HDi 163 with only 9,900 miles  and I need a pair of new boots on the front. Shocked

I've been reading the various threads about the alternatives you've all tried. Is there any consensus yet?

My local fitter (Harris Bros in Swansea) has the Contis in stock at £220 per corner, but should I look for something else?

Any comment on:
Vredestein Ultrac Vorti - 235/40 R19 (96Y) XL TL http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s393...Eff_:_E_Wet_Grip:_B_NoiseClass:_2_Noise:_70dB

Continental ContiSportContact 3 Continental Conti Sport Contact 3 - 235/40 R19 96Y XL FR TL http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s393...Eff_:_E_Wet_Grip:_B_NoiseClass:_3_Noise:_73dB

Pirelli PZero Nero GT - 235/40 R19 (96Y) XL TL http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s393...Eff_:_E_Wet_Grip:_B_NoiseClass:_2_Noise:_72dB

or other suggestions...

Your collective wisdom is most gratefully received ;)

Michelin pilot super sports are what I'm using. Not cheap though. Full set cost me €1000.

Hi Intothevoid :greetings-wavingblue: Google "TyreLeader.co.uk" they offer a good service (tyre supply) I have recently used them, they supply from Germany which dictates they are very efficient AND they are cheap, delivery was fast, tracked & FREE ! I was on their site last night and they are now selling my Michelin Pilot Super Sports for just £179 !! ..i'll probably order two more for the rear at that price as they have reduced them since I got two for the front.

A few other examples in size 235 40 19 (96 load rating) are:

Vredstein Ultrac Vorti £166
Continental Conti 3's £175 (quite a saving for you on what you were quoted for the these)
Dunlop Sport Maxx RT £193
Pirelli Pzero Nero GT £153

.the big blue (...my Peugeot dealer is willing to 'fit only' for a tenner a corner ,,probably plus VAT)

Thanks Big Blue, I'll look them up. Quite a saving on the Contis . What do you think of the MPSS's compared to the Conti's?

I needed a front pair, also around 10000 miles :eusa-think:

Living in Swansea, I also had quotes off Harris Bros, but in the end I actually bought online from Asda, who delivered the tyres FOC next day to a local Halfords service center, where they were fitted, again FOC.

I decided to give mid range tyres a go as the expensive Conits just didnt last, so I thought why not try cheaper ones, especially as I do low local mileage .

The cost for 2 tyres fully fitted and balanced, new valves was around £180 If I remember correctly. This did include a 10% discount.
I cant remember the make of the tyres but so far they've been good, handling seems the same as its was on the Contis, and in fact I find them quieter.

I found Asda were cheaper than all the other online tyre retailers, even for the higher end tyres.

Maybe it's the roads around Swansea

That sounds like a very good deal Jactac. Was that the Halfords down in New Cut Road? How did you find their customer service?

Don't go for Toyo Proxes C1S. They are rubbish. Less to no grip even in the dry, without doing crazy things I get wheelspin in 2nd gear, terrible brake handling, ABS kicked in more on the last 5000km on the Toyos than the previous 80 000 on the Conti's.

I will soon make the switch to Dunlop Sportmaxx RT. They cost a few €€€ more, but tires are the only thing that connects my beauty to morther Earth, and on the racetrack you really want a tire you can thrust.

Somebody interessted in 2 Toyo Proxes C1S, I can bring them with me to Pugfest. 150€ for the 2.
Still 6mm thread left. (size is 245-40-19)

Hi' Intothevoid :greetings-wavingblue: ,,i see you've gone for the vreds, I looked at them when I first started looking to replace my original Conti 3's that had become summer slicks if anyone is interested ...THOUGHT NOT, a bit like the Toyos that OO58RON was definitely NOT considering after that great sales pitch from the seller!

Only had the Mich PSS fitted on Friday and have only driven twice since then so can't comment other than they seemed quieter but then again the Conti's were the originals on 4 year old rubber. Will update once I run them a bit and likewise with your vreds once you've got them I hope??

.the big blue (..my next challenge is to find out whether the £340 plus £42 for brake fluid is the correct price for a 32K to 33K service on a 2010 Z' "200 THP," ..another Peugeot dealer advertises Interim £115 and Full £195) :helpme:

I used the Halfords center on Samlet road in Llansamlet, they seemed a good bunch of fellas and I had no probs with the fitting of the tyres. :eusa-think:

Did you order your tyres thru Asda ?

Looking forward to hearing about how you get on with the MPSS's

If it helps, I just paid £270 all-in for a full two-year service. Mileage was 9,900 :eusa-whistle:

I did contact Asda but they wouldn't supply the vred's, so I am booked in on Saturday morning to Simon and Jason tyres (a father/son outfit) in the Uplands.

I'll let you know what I think afterwards...
