ECU Remap Problems - Bosch MED17.4

I took my RCZ to a local engineering company for an ECU Remap. For some reason, he was unable to write the modified software onto the ECU. It would only allow him to rewrite the original software. I don't know too much about what is involved with this process, all I know is he tried a couple of different ECU remap tools/devices on various operating systems, but to no avail. It would seem it has some sort of protection. Apparently this isn't an uncommon problem for this particular ECU. I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems and if so, whether you're aware of a way around this?

My RCZ is a 1.6 THP (156bhp) 2011 model.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

I worked with SuperChips in developing a remap for our THP200 RCZ, and removing the ECU was necessary for the first time in order for them to do future adjustments via BDM. I am no expert on remapping, but in discussing this with SuperChips it was deemed that the ECU must be accessed directly before BDM software can work. Once this was done then other adjustments via the BDM was done without having to remove the ECU. I was told that to do a remap on another RCZ, if that RCZ has the same Peugeot software version then it can be done without removing the ECU.

When I had my old gt200 done by SuperChips - a few months after RCZ-Perfomrmance - they also removed my ECU to perform the remap.

I can confirm this procedure for the R too. A company over here told me, they need to grab the ECU first time and apply some changes to it before reflashing via OBD becomes available. Even for removal of the 155mph limiter they have to go this way for the first time. That is why the first reflash is quite pricey.
I haven't done it yet to my R.

Cheers all, I believe he did remove the ECU, but 'll pass this info onto the guy who was trying to do the remap nevertheless. Thanks again.

Its a while since the last post about remapping. I'm looking into this at the moment for my 2015 RCZ 2litre diesel. Price quoted about £320 should get BHP just short of 200 and more to the point a useful increase in torque.
Has anyone had this done and do they have any comments about the process or the results before I go ahead.

Hi,I have recently had a good friend of mine and a top class technician try to remap my Z through the OBD but as other posts suggest it can't be done first time this way so the ecu needs to be removed first. My friend wasn't prepared to do this so put me on to a guy who did my brothers car who depending on where you are will come to you remove the Ecu and do the upgrade for around £230. Not had mine done yet though and this guy works from Doncaster and comes very highly recommended.
If you want his number DM me.
Good luck.

Has anybody had any experience with the racechip ecu upgrades
that are supposed to just plug and play?
