Hi all,

Bought mine yesterday, and it's developed a fault already. So sad...

Anyway will need to upgrade the ICE to run Android Auto now that I've done the same to my BMW F31.

I know I will need a fascia replacement, some sort of adaptor to utilise the stalk control, and a double DIN stereo. Any recommendations please?

Thanks.

Haven’t tried any other brands but I have an Xtron unit fitted, been in well over a year and no issues once I got it fully setup.
i did have to purchase a different canbus decoder than was supplied.
also found xtron staff helpful when setting up and looking some info

Thanks EddieJ.

That looks like the ones they sell on AliExpress. From what I can see the unit sticks out a little bit rather than flush to the rest of the console. Is that correct?

I'm now almost ready to get a Linux one instead.

I have a linux one in my BMW, and works out just fine as prefer to use Andriod Auto and don't want/need to install any apps onto the unit. The only thing is the screen is smaller than yours, and I need (and have bought) a fascia kit.

The Xtron unit is alike the Ali Ex ones but I seem to have paid a bit more for it. I added every option available for it, and also the Xtron is piano black as opposed to the flat or satin surrounds on Ali. But yes it does sit out from the dash a little, once in, and cos it matches the piano black of the rest of the console it seems to blend away……in my head anyway.

Does the fascia you bought sit in flush?
Always planned on fitting a unit to my other car but haven’t got round to it and if I can get a flush mounting unit I might be convinced to get a move on.

Did mine tonight.

The fascia sits flush and is the same piano black as the rest of the trim. The head unit is recessed into the slot but looks normal. Also managed to upload the Peugeot badge as startup logo so now it looks pretty OEM.

Only thing of note, for those looking to get this, is that you need the adaptor for the aerial. Dual Fakra to DIN to be exact. That way you can utilise both aerial cable into 1 DIN plug. The Connect2 CANBUS adaptor also works well. Press Next and Prev button simultaneously and the menu comes back up on the orange screen. The X3 also allows programming of the steering control for different functions.

It's not the fastest to load, I think that is the only drawback. Equally slow as the one I have on my BMW. I haven't tested an andriod head unit before so I can't compare or comment. Those works like a cheap tablet, so I can't imagine them being faster than a Linux system to be fair.

Look well in place, I might have to come back and ask loads more questions.
You did mention something there that I never got round to looking into on mine, the menu function for the upper orange lcd, or more specifically, setting the time. Though mines okay 6 months of the year.

For £54, you can access the menu on the orange screen without putting the old stereo back in.

Thanks for that might come in handy.
Am thinking more about the flush unit for the other car which may lead me to need the adaptor.

My stalk controls all work to volume up/down call end call etc just can’t get to menu on the lcd display, though haven’t really tried looking into it as yet.
