So, I have an airport run at 5 am tomorrow.

Washing the car this afternoon getting it ready for its hols, I spotted a nail head at the very edge of the tread in my rear offside tyre.
I knew from its position it couldn't be repaired, so started phoning round for stockists of 235/49/19. Started asking for Goodyear, ended up asking for anything. Nobody had anything like that size tyre.

One dealership said bring it in after I explained I had to be at the airport early tomorrow, he said he would see what he could do. Nervously pouring washing up liquid over the nail head as he slowly removed it with pliers & watching for bubbles, the nail turned out to be a head & 2mm shaft, so it hadn't gone through the rubber.

However....

The guy examined all my tyres, said the rears were fine, but the fronts were both down to @ the legal limit

Guess what I'm buying as soon as I get back from my jollys :x

On a side note, he asked why I initially asked for Goodyears. I said I intended replacing all the tyres with Goodyears as & when it was necessary.

He said that goodyears were not the best choice for a car like mine, and he said Michelin would be a better choice, with better grip & longevity. :eusa-think:

He went on to explain how the wife reinforcement went across the full tread and into the side walls on the Michelin, whereas the Goodyear only had it across the central 3/4 of the tread section.

I have read on the forum that Goodyears seem to be the best choice, and even reading general reviews online it appears that Goodyear are going to be the correct choice for my next boots.

Couldn't resist sorry.....

But last thing you want to find before hols.

Someone else told me Michelin Super Sports or pilots, were a better choice for the R.

Should be able to tell you very soon way my tyres are wearing, don't know why officer. :eusa-whistle:

Also be aware that the Goodyear tyres are a load rating of 92.

The only Goodyear tyre I could find was a Dunlop Sports Maxx.

Only the RCZ-R has 92 loading for tyres.
Other RCZ's have 96 loading see plate on left hand side door aperture.

This is from my HDi

Don't forget to open your search area by including Y speed rated tyres as well.
