Just out of curiosity has anyone done any tuning to their diesel engined rcz and what gains have been made over the factory 163bhp?

I'm just trying to gauge what I have to do as in just one thing or do I have to do a series of things.

To better understand how to help it does help to better understand your goals:

1. Are you looking for a specific HP number?
2. Is reliability and/or dependability a major requirement?
3. Do you have a budget?
4. Is warranty a concern?

This is just a start but it helps you plan accordingly and sets expectations to others that can assist you with your goal.

I'm looking to see what I or anyone else who is thinking of going down the mod route can do as in just doing one item, two items etc.

I know that there are various combinations and this is what I'm look at. Obviously price does come in to it. Reliable is more preferred but if knowledge of pitfalls are known then an informed decision can be made.

At the moment my vehicle still has half it's warranty to run so I have plenty of time to decide what to do.

One question I have is about tuning, whether it is a box or reprogramming, does it change pressures of the various systems eg fuel, cooling etc, and therefore would it be wise to do it earlier or later in the life of the vehicle?

Has anyone done anything and what was the outcome (good or bad).

There are not a lot of mods for the Diesel engine unfortunately, but remapping has been done and we recommend you check with Superchips about this. There are some other diesel fanatics on here that maybe able to assist with what the diesel tuners can do.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I've tuned my diesel cars for the last 18 years and not one problem. I've done the uk route and been ripped off. I use a supplier in Germany and have done for ten years. Quarter of the price you would pay for in the uk. Any diesel car. I have a Zafira 160 running at 210 hp and the RCZ hdi 163 running at 205 hp for the last 21 months. The boxes are adjustable but I have always left them on standard settings. Massive increases and better economy due to more torque and less gear changes. Pm me for info. No I'm not a retailer or make any money from it. I tell it as it is.

Ps, don't bother with aftermarket air filters, not worth the money for the gains made. Stick to a standard air filter. You won't be disappointed with the gains of a tuning box. Also they are removable and fitted in five minutes when you know where to look. Don't bother with Ecu remaps either.

Since you, me and a few others are running diesels obviously economy comes into it.
What mpg are you getting average? My averages can be seen in my signature.
How old is your rcz?
Do you get it serviced at a Peugeot dealership?
Do you remove the box of tricks when it goes in to peugeot?
Are those bhp from a dyno?

We have sold a lot of these with great results:

The new RaceChip One is just coming out replacing the Standard module, so we will update our site shortly with that, but most people go with the Pro2 or the Ultimate.

Let us know if you have any questions.

i'm a bit dubious about futtering around with the ecu. as tianorth mentioned, do people remove them when the car goes in for service? i presume i would need to inform my insurance company about this device? i'm not too concerned about mpg but curious all the same. i will check your site though about that new version. thanks.

The RaceChip module can be removed at any point. It does not reprogram the ECU. The RaceChip module goes inline between sensors and the ECU, and based upon your driving it sends different signals to the ECU so that you gain more power than what the ECU will give you without the module.

We will be adding the RaceChip One (replaces the standard unit) to our site and shop soon. The output is the same though, just a new design.

As for insurance, we take a step back on this subject because this is your decision on what you tell them or don't tell them.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hi chaps

PM those who required it.

March 2013. 41 mpg originally. Mostly short shift and changing at 2000 rpm. After the box fitted 45mpg. I live in a very hilly area high up at 1338 ft above sea level. On long runs and motorways 55-60 mpg.
Dyno runs from a friend who has a rolling road.

Up to you whether you remove the box. Only takes five minutes. Warranty wise, Vauxhall have never been bothered about tuning boxes/maps. Don't know what Peugeot would be like though.
