diesel heater dash light

I dont appear to have a heater dash light showing when i switch ingition on. I think it should look like a swirly line affair from my handbook. but i aint got one on my dash. can anyone enlighten me, as i have to wait a few second before starting her up.

Does the car have problems starting in the cold? If not it probably goes through the process of heating as soon as you put the key in, certainly on the petrol there are a lot of start-up noises going on including fuel pump priming.

hi yep it starts ok,wonder if light only shows in very cold conditions
