Im going to a seminar at Meguiars on Saturday with another car club (FrenchUK).

The open day consist of:
• A presentation of "Best Practice" in the Training Room. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and hopefully dispel a few myths.
• An hour or so working on a visitor's car in our Detailing Bay to demonstrate products and techniques and give visitors an opportunity to try for themselves.
• Every visitor receives a goodie bag of samples to take away.
• The Meguiar’s shop will then open up for sales of all Meguiar’s items, at a discount.

I think it will be quite interesting :) Ill keep you posted on what I learn :)

Where abouts are Meguiars? I can give you a full and a nearly full bottle of their useless tyre dressing. Sling !! you end up with a Black car after using the stuff

Will do K :)

They are in Daventry. Do you use the endurance gel? I have it, but I use it purely for shows due to the streaks they leave down the side of the car.

Ive got a tyre dressing sponge, and thats a bit messy. I use a round applicator sponge instead :)

The best tyre shine I have used was from ASDA in a green and yellow can. Cant remember what its called.
The armorall one isnt bad, but doesnt last very long.

That's usually the problem with tyre dressings. The ones that look really good don't last and/or sling.

I've just tried out a sample of the new Auto Finesse "Satin" tyre dressing. I put on 3 coats for a glossy look and it looked REALLY good. After driving in rain, 3 days later, it had all disappeared. May be good for shows or the summer months but definitely not one for winter :(

Well, the seminar was great, I learnt how to effectively use a DA polisher, and how all the enthusiasts range works together.

I think Im a convert, no more autoglym for me (unless in an emergency as I have a garage full  )

I got some great savings, purely because the boxes were dented. I got some ultimate polish, gold class carnuba wax, (hot wheels?) Tyre shine, a few towels and applicator pads.

I just need to get a DA polisher :)

I asked about the tyre gel, and I was advised that you have to put a very very thin layer on and allow a few hours for it to dry before driving.

Did you have a go on the DA? I predominantly use Megs 105 and 205 for polishing but have been using some new polishes that have been sent to me. The Megs polishes are very good to use on a DA. You can vary the amount of cut by speed and pressure, which is different to a lot of other polishes.

With regards to the they're dressing, with anything you should only apply very thin layers. When I used it this is what I did and the car would be left to stand for a full day before driving AND I still wipe the tyre gently with kitchen roll to remove any excess (I always do this) and I still got sling with their tyre dressing.

Maybe you could become the third member of Detailing Wright?

Yeah, I was surprised at how easy it was to use! The technique they showed was clay, then paint cleaner by hand, then ultimate polish with the machine. They dabbed the polish on the car, then at a low speed, spread it fairly quickly. And then work your way over it at a higher speed, but slower. It was a great result as the donor car had a lot of swirls, and they were virtually invisible after the first go. After the third, it was like looking in black water

Ah, I see. I just caked it on, so I was asking for trouble  They said that the hot wheels stuff I got was a lot better, so ill give that a go :)

I wont volunteer yet, I'm still a noob ;) Im having an argument with myself now whether to get the sport steering wheel or a polisher

Ooh that is a difficult decision as they both make such a big difference. Go for the steering wheel first as they are always good deals to be had on DAs on eBay or detailing forums.
