Detailing Day Meet?

Now, this is just a thought that I have had and nothing is yet in place. However I work for a company that has an "empty shed" with water and electricity, loos, kettle and plenty of parking space. I just wondered if there was any interest in organising a weekend meet at which we could maybe have a detailing demonstration or maybe a joint detailing of multiple cars. The warehouse would comfortably accommodate four and probably more cars with doors open to work on with an external tap for jet washing. The location is Thorp Arch Trading Estate Nr Wetherby. There would not be any catering facilities nearby but we could always bring camping gear and cook bacon butties or similar.

Just my thoughts, what are yours?

It's a cracking idea Ron. I've often talked about holding a detailing day but the sticking point was always where to hold it. Would your work be ok with this idea Ron?

I can see no reason why not. Security isn't an issue, as there are no controlled drugs stored there, a small amount of returned stock, mainly pet food and accessories. I thought that I gauge levels of interest or not before approaching my manager.

Pet food, well i do have five cats and foster cats and kittens for the local RSPCA Branch...any litter too? ;-)

I'd be interested in more interior detailing with a bit of leather car etc etc and having a look at the 2 bucket method. Sadly not applying anything to the paintwork though as she already has a coating :)

I'd be interested, just to see if I'm doing correctly, get better ways of doing it and give the rcz a good run out.

I would be interested and my car would definitely need cleaning having driven all that way. Think with all the interest you might need a bigger shed.

I dont think my knees could cope. Even with pads

I could do some interior bits if materials were provided.

Maybe we all could bring some talent to the meet, just make it an RCZ workshop day :D

I'm obviously being a bit dim here but what would a 'detailing day' consist of?!
I don't live too far away & work in Tockwith so could fancy a nosey round but I'm not aware I want any work doing on my car or think I've got much to offer anyone else.....

The idea of a detailing day is to demonstrate all the different processes involved in getting a car washed and protected using the safest processes ie

the two bucket method,
snow foaming /pre washing,
washing the car using a variety of different shampoos / mitts, Including door shuts, boot, engine bay, panel gaps, etc
Decontaminating paintwork - tar removal, iron contaminants, claying,
Swirl / scratch spotting,
Polishing,
Protection - waxing / sealing / coating,
Windows - cleaning, polishing, sealing,
Cleaning wheels,
Exhausts,
Interior cleaning and protecting

- just for starters ;)

You don't have to have anything done to your car if you don't want to. You can stand and watch or participate as much as you want. It's entirely up to you. The idea is you go away having learnt a thing or two about the correct processes for looking after your car and maintaining it. Any other skills that people can offer is an added bonus :)

This is how I imagine the day to be like.
Top Ten Detailing Mistakes - /DRIVE CLEAN: http://youtu.be/gTZchsxdq7A

And its also good if you have a mod you want to put on, but need another pair of hands or help fitting it :)

A bit like a live forum ;)
