DEAR PEUGEOT UK..........................................

So...I'm pretty certain that many of you have read my own most recent thread and know my views already. I will, when my general mood has brightened, post my thoughts in a concise and balanced manner. However, in short, I am appalled by the treatment and lack of knowledge and skills in the dealerships that I have encountered. I am shocked and disappointed by the way that I have been treated and I am so disillusioned by the way that things have give down that I too will be leaving the marque. Peugeot have been supportive (to a point) but there seems to be so many disconnects and an absolute lack of communication between the customer service dept, the technical dept and the dealerships that they're incredibly inefficient. This, in part, has led to the lack of clarity regarding servicing procedures and schedules.

Yes, I concede that other Marques and dealerships may be flawed but my experience has been soured and I have trouble believing that it could be much worse anywhere else. Sorry...just being honest.

Well done for being so proactive Snowy and Figo!! I think the ST2 is a great choice Snowy!! Please let me know how you get on!!

Not a lot of interest in Figos thread at the moment   .
I do agree with the statements being made on figo's post Snowy but from myself with a new HDi I have had no issues at all (touch wood!) the dealer I picked the car from could not be more helpful and excelled themselves when I crashed the trade in 3 days before pick up day! (not my fault by the way!) even to the point of ringing me the day after the accident and checking that I was ok (and didn't even ask about the car). I could only comment good things about peugeot and there dealers.. By the way better mention the dealer.. Perry's of Blackburn

Re: DEAR PEUGEOT UK.........................................

no problem Snowy.
Luv my car to bits. best entertaining drive I've had for a long time.. I don't have my services done by a dealer, so I cant comment on the service. that's all i was trying to get across. Due to doing 40k a car I find it easier to have my car serviced by a friend, never had a problem when it comes to warrant issues doing it that way either.. forums great for getting a good cross section of views, and I have learn't a lot from the posts.

Keep up the good work All.

Hi Dave, please dont get the wrong end of the stick here. I love my RCZ and she has been trouble free for over 2 years. My dealership, Hamble Motors are fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone. The main problem that has recently come to a head, is the uncertainty of what is required on a service? i.e. Does the brake fluid have to be changed every 2 years in order to keep the warranty valid? When is a service required, Is it every year or every 2 years and how much will it cost. The costs across the country vary so much. Also depending on how old your car is depends on what sort of reaction you get to a warranty claim.
Please dont let these rants put you off what is indeed a fantastic motor car. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine and still do. I hope you continue to enjoy your car for years to come.
Thanks for your input Dave, its always good to know other peoples thoughts and experiences. That is what a forum is all about

 Snowy

Snowy, I really cannot understand why, if you're happy with the car and your dealer, you want to move on because there's some doubt about how often the brake fluid should be changed. If you've had it serviced by a Peugeot dealer on time and your service book is stamped then your guarantee is intact irrespective of whether the brake fluid has been changed or not! It's an advisory change at two years ie. optional.

Likewise the service cost being variable from dealer to dealer is a bit of a red herring in my view - if you are happy with what you were charged then what's the problem? If you weren't go somewhere else next time or use an independent workshop. Dealers (except Robins & Day which are owned by Peugeot) are independents and presumably will charge whatever they feel is appropriate to their business and area.

I can't believe that people with cars which have given few if any problems are getting so uptight about this issue!

It's in the handbook as being 2 years so I would follow that and stick with it.

No Snowy...stay true to yourself here!!! I'm in complete agreement. The lack of inconsistency is bizarre and frustrating! The brake fluid was never mentioned to me as being advisory nor necessary at this service interval. If it is in the handbook the why want it done nor was I given the choice?! If we ever get a clear piece of guidance on this then I'll be bringing it up with my dealership!!!!

Sharing dealerships Rizz, mine wasn't mentioned either. But as we're both imminently "getting rid", I wouldn't get worked up over it...

Exactly RCZ 1 thats the point. Hans thinks its optional, others think it isnt. Lots of people have had 2 year services without even being advised about this................only Peugeot can sort this............................ I only started this because I wanted to help. ever started something you wish you hadnt :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( Thanks for all the negative responses. next time I will mind my own bloody business

They are not negative responses Snowy, just opinions and suggestions. On my first Z I had my brake fluid changed at 2 years too. My current handbook states the same. Always check your handbook before your service, that way you are pre armed with the necessary information and if it isn't mentioned when you drop the car off, you can ask the question.

Re: DEAR PEUGEOT UK.........................................

I am a part of the general consensus on the quality of service at a main PUG dealer, I have posted my negative thoughts on another thread. My RCZ will be going back into the main dealers towards the end of the month, to get the car serviced as it was not serviced correctly (The dealer Principal agreed) when it went in last month.

Like other forum members I am really also concerned about recommendations written into service routines, rather than clearing wording e.g. the brake fluid 'does' need changing 2 yearly or 20K miles :eusa-think:

If you've had it serviced by a Peugeot dealer on time and your service book is stamped then your guarantee is intact irrespective of whether the brake fluid has been changed or not! It's an advisory change at two years ie. optional.

I wrote the above last week. At the time I believed that the brake fluid change was 'recommended'. However I've now dug out the service book that came with the car and in the servicing schedule section it says under 'Additional Operations in Normal Operating Conditions' to replace brake fluid every 2 years. Therefore, whilst I'm still confident that the vehicle guarantee will be intact irrespective, the fluid should have been changed and it's puzzling why it wasn't.

I can feel a correspondence with my dealer coming on.....

I rest my case

Come on Snowy, don't be smug! ;) It still doesn't change how I feel about the car or Peugeot. I've used the same dealer for the past 10 years so I'll find out their view on it before condemning them over this.

Absolutely agree Snowy. It's the lack of consistency that's concerning. IMO, all dealerships should be given clear guidance and all be singing from the same (Peugeot) hymn sheet.

Re: DEAR PEUGEOT UK.........................................

Finally got round to visiting my local dealer (Startins Redditch) today to ask them about brake fluid changes and my malfunctioning rear high level brake light.

They agree that the handbook says change the brake fluid at two years but they consider it optional at that point because Peugeot don't include it in their menu pricing. However they do replace it automatically at four years. I am in agreement on both points.

After a quick check that the brake light did indeed have one 'dead' LED there was no argument and it is being replaced under warranty on Thursday.

Once again a good Peugeot dealer experience!

If you think the RCZ is bad, you should see what they have done to the 1.6 diesel 508's.

Since launch in 2001, they have changed the service intervals 3 times.
