Hi. I'm the owner of a 1.6 RCZ which I absolutely love. Only had it 18 months but am having problems. Engine warning light keeps coming on, goes into limp mode and fan sounds like it's about to take off once I turn the engine off. Told today by Peugeot that it needs a de-coke which will cost £800. Thoughts please?
Thankyou

What's the year & mileage ? Walnut blasting (decoke) according to the tech info for Prince & most direct injection engines is usually needed in the upper mileage range 60.00 to 80.000 klm assuming the Engine has been fully maintained & 99 Ron fuel has been used consistently the only way to be certain of the diagnosis is to get the inlet manifold off

I've just had my 1.6 THP de coked and it has made a huge difference. Quieter running engine, improved fuel consumption and overall performance. 85500 miles on the clock. Cost £149 and well worth the money. The mobile technician advised to only use 99 RON petrol i.e. Shell V Power.

The valves do coke up and sometimes at remarkably low miles . My first RCZ had only done 33k miles and was only 2 years old when it needed the valves seeing to.
When they first came out Peugeot were suggesting 20k or 2 year service intervals which I don't think helped.
Having said that I ran the car up to 60k and sold it on to a family friend who ran it to 80k without any further problems.
There are specialists out there that will do walnutblasting for a lot less than £800.

Is there a difference between having your engine carbon cleaned and having it de-coked?

Can you give details of who you used as this can help other owners.👍🏻
