Creaking clutch

Hi guys, forgive me if this has already been asked, my clutch is making a noise similar to my old bed springs 20 years ago whenever i press and release the clutch pedal.. it creaks a lot, and gets worse if I'm using the car for a period of time. Are these clutches with a cable or hydraulic? On a very rare occasion the clutch pedal will only come half way back up, i then put my foot behind it to lift it all the way. Has anyone got any ideas what this could be?
The noise is not coming from the pedal itself but seems to be from under the car or maybe deep down in the engine bay.

Thanks

I sometimes get a "creak" from my 156's clutch, almost always when the engine's cold. I usually put my hands over my ears and pretend it isn't happening and that it'll go away.

I had a similar issue last year. A “groaning” noise sometimes when setting off in first, and also occasionally in reverse. I took it to the main stealers as I had an extended Peugeot warranty.
They had the warranty man look at it & they said it was the dual mass flywheel, and replaced the lot under warranty, clutch assembly, plate, flywheel, everything. Cost to warranty @ £1600 cost to me £0

They did say that they couldn’t see anything wrong with any of the removed parts.

Touch wood, it’s been ok since

Holy Moley, that's really scary. Mine is from 03/2013 and well out of Peugeot warranty and done just 46K.

I do have a click4warranty policy that covers my car until July 2021. I'm crossing my fingers a lot. Thankfully my free NHS cover was able to cure the gangrene in my fingers

But seriously, it happens in maybe one in twenty starts.

:eusa-whistle:

Mine is a 2013 and had done under 40k when it had its clutch changed.

It too only did it very occasionally, and only in 1st, but then started on occasion in reverse, and seemed to be increasing in frequency.

Sometimes when it happened it was so loud pedestrians looked round to see what the noise was.

The service manager told me his wife’s 208 also did it infrequently, and they suspected the DMF there too.

The clutch on my RCZ had started shrieking not long before I traded it in. That had around 60k on it.
